Lyra was blissfully unaware of all of this as she dressed and picked up the apartment before Mrs. Lee stopped by.
She was a bit worried when she saw that Jungkook had left things, his things, specifically his clothes all over the apartment. He never did that. He was always so neat and cleaned everything before he left. She thought of a dozen reasons why things were the way they were this morning, but fully 2/3 of them involved a crisis or danger to one or both of them.
She tried to shake that feeling as she picked up his jacket, then his tie.She flushed remembering him striding through the door stripping last night, intent on one thing, intent on her.
Then she saw the food he had placed in the floor and flushed hotter. He had wanted her to the point of ignoring food!! And she had been as eager. She laughed, knowing she would return to the memories they made last night for the rest of her life.
Finishing with her clean up, she was startled by the time. She hurried to shower and dress before Mrs. Lee arrived. She was beautifully oblivious to the dragons her lover was fighting for her in that very moment.
JK stood from his desk to stretch a bit. He walked out of his office, anxiety and adrenaline crushing him.
He decided to run the stairs to burn some of it off. As his legs pumped and his muscles began to burn with exertion, he worked to keep his breathing steady. He thought of Lyra then, how he wished he was with her, making love to her, letting her draw away all this fire that was threatening to overwhelm him.
She did that, she gave him peace. He could not wait to wrap around her and drift to sleep with her tonight.
Those thoughts and the fatigue settling in his body calmed him to the point he could concentrate again. He returned to his desk to do just that.
A couple of hours passed as he sat at his desk or stood at his window, his body restlessly moving and his mind methodically reviewing what he knew.
Then, like the tumblers of a lock responding to the correct combination, things began to slip into place.
He hurried to his desk and began to jot down his thoughts. He paused to pull Lyra's work diary and reviewed it. Then he did the same with Jin's calendars and Lyra's office calendar. One more time he reviewed security footage of the day that had his attention.
That was it. He slumped in his chair and cursed. There it was. He had a sick feeling in his gut that all the forensics would confirm it.
All the evidence he had gathered indicated the culprit was one of three people.
One of them was Lyra. But on the dates he just reviewed she was with him during the critical times. He sure as hell knew she was not texting Jin this morning as he left for work.
He felt a now familiar tingle ripple through him as he thought of her pressed against him, legs intimately tangled with his as he watched her sleep.
That and the letter this morning eliminated her completely. She would not have blackmailed or threatened herself.
That left two.
He cursed long and loud. He had to tell Jin.
