Lyra could hear him in the kitchen gathering food and plates for them. She tried to hurry putting away the clothes, but she had never had things so nice in her life.

She day dreamed as she put away each set of underwear, flushing to her feet with ideas when she came to the racier ones.

The last piece, the one for the magical, “special date” found her staring at the delicate garments. She tucked them away carefully, wishing for the day that she could freely plan that date, and that it would been soon.

Moving on, she carefully hung each garment in the large closet, frowning at the contrast in what was already there. She touched each new piece, pondering which she should wear tomorrow, the nerves and fear building again.

Jungkook had found a fest of random food, noodles, fruit and drinks. He gathered them all and brought them to the low table in front of the couch. Lyra had been really quiet and he was starting to worry.

“Lyra?? Almost done?? Food is ready,” he called to her.

“Yes, almost done,” she called, knowing that he would help her chase the fears away.

She finished the last few tasks and looked to see him sitting crossed legged at the low table with what appeared to be the contents of the entire kitchen spread before him. He looked so proud as he poured her a drink her heart could not help but respond to him.

She joined him there and they ate and talked, holding hands and kisses between sharing bites of food with each other.

They ate until even JK admitted he was full. They worked together to clear the table, then clean up the mess of a kitchen he had left behind. They both found comfort in the ordinary, the routine tasks that kept them busy, kept them connected.

When they were done, she mindlessly followed him back to the couch, slowly losing the battle to stay in the present. He could see tomorrow slowly creeping over her.

He turned down all the lights leaving the room in a soft glow. He piled the pillows to make a soft nest and pulled her onto the couch next to him.

He waited quietly while she squirmed and rooted until their bodies fit together like puzzle pieces. He welcomed the weight of her body on his, her head on his chest. She spent long minutes breathing deeply, willing his calm to her.

After several minutes, she propped herself on his chest and looked searchingly at his face. He saw the questions and doubts there.

“Tell me what worries you the most,” he whispered, hands soothing her back, brushing the hair out of her face.

That was all Lyra wanted or needed. His genuine question, his gentle presence was all she needed.

She began to talk and could not stop. She began again in her childhood and told him stories of her family.

He wiped her tears as she talked about joining the agency and the things that followed.
This time, because she knew Alex was behind her misery, she remembered more details, put more information together as it occurred.

He grew so very angry for her as she shared more about what happened before she quit the agency. He felt blood at one point as he was clamping down on his cheek, working to support her and not explode in anger at those nameless men.

And Alex….Lyra did not know, but she was filling in many of the questions about Alex. JK took mental notes. He never wanted her to have to retell these stories again.

She talked until she was hoarse. He listened until she was quiet.

He gave her a soft kiss and hugged her tighter.

“You are the strongest, bravest person I have ever known. I am so damn proud of you!” he told her, his voice breaking with emotion. She kissed him then, thankful, reverent, connecting time and again with him.

Then she drew a deep breath and asked the question that had her terrified.

“What will happen tomorrow?” she whispered. He soothed her and began to speak. He went into great detail about every facet of the meeting.

Somewhere along the way he felt the tension drain from her body. Her head snuggled to his chest and she was lulled by the sweet tones of his voice. He would be there. She would be safe.

After a while he noticed her deep and even breathing. He chuckled. Tae would complain that he had bored her to death. He preferred to think he had taken the mystery and fear away so she could rest. She would need it tomorrow. So would he.

He debated just staying on the couch, but decided he really needed to be at his sharpest tomorrow. He managed to untangle himself and roll off the couch. She felt his absence immediately and began frantically reaching for him.

“Shhhhhh……shhhhhhhhhh,” I'm right here, let’s go to bed.

He bent and lifted her in his arms, smiling into her hair as she clung to him and buried her face in his neck. This woman had him feeling like he could take on the world. He had to admit, it was the best feeling.

He tucked her in bed, then stripped and joined her. She had fallen back into a deep sleep as soon as she settled.

He checked and responded to several messages. Everything was set for tomorrow. He put all of that away for the night and turned to pull Lyra close to him. He fell asleep wrapped around her. After a night of freely baring their hearts and souls, they slept peacefully, cocooned in sacred intimacy.
