Chapter 3: Second Trial, Mission Fail

Athena's POV

Later that evening, we return to Savanaclaw to meet up with Leona and Ruggie. We told what we just did. The hyena raises both brows. "Eh? You guys seriously went to the Coral Sea?" The hyena said without any hesitation. We nod like we're 'dumb' at this point as Leona face palm to our stupidity. "You're too dumb," Leona sigh in disgust. Grim raise his paws up, offended by what the dorm leader said. "Ffgna?! You're the one who told us to hurry up and do something this morning!!" I pull the anemone on his head as Grim squirm in pain.

"At least my spirits did help us gathering in the first place; even though, there's wasn't enough information about them." The raccoon quickly nod and drop him on my lap, rubbing his head. The two did heard what I said out loud in front of them. "Hmph. Nobody said anything about jumping into the ocean like an idiot. The other hand, the herbivore's spirits did their job to at least gather a little bit of information along the way." Leona was 'impressed' for my spirits to find some information first while all of us just dove straight to Coral Sea. This guy can throw some shades at anyone, including me which is kinda rude. "Your time is limited. I meant, use your head to come up with a worthwhile course of action. There's no way to beat merfolks head on in the water, no matter how you struggle in the process. It's like you're trying to get eaten."

I cup my chin, humming a bit. Staring at him, I had this hunch that Leona has something in his skull. "...Umm, Leona-senpai, did you know by chance that those twins were merfolk from the beginning?" Jack ask the dorm leader. This guy should spill something. "Pretty much." He lean back, shrugging. Ruggie lean forward a little bit as he cross his legs. "Last summer I saw Floyd revert to that form during a joint swimming class we had... if he came at me like that in the water I feel like my story would be over." The hyena's ears flop downward. Of course you'll be gone if you're on his bad side. Jack frown upon his seniors. "Then you should tell us something like that in advance!!," Jack said. Milo place his hand on his hip but didn't say much because he didn't want to anger the dorm leader.

Leona stares at his resident. "Weren't you guys the ones that jumped in without gathering info first? If you had asked I would have told you all about it." Well, that just backfired quickly and swiftly in one quote. I kinda sweat drop on that but not in a serious way though to be honest. It was partially my fault at hand but the rest is on them. "Yeah yeah. You've gotta be wary before you act. Those who can't look ahead will starve on the savanna. Luckily, your spirits did helped out on your behalf." Ruggie giggle at the end. Is it just me or they're messing around with us? "I was going to tell them we should gathered info but that got thrown out. Your complement for my spirits to gathered information was a 'head start' I would say," I said. The two only nod at my comment.

Grim growl lowly due to their insults. "You're as big a bully as ever!!" I pinch Grim's ear, thus he squirm for pinching his ear. He look up and frown as I frown back. That made him quiet as we look at Leona and Ruggie. "So that means that Azul had every intention of getting in our way from the start?" Jack ruffle his hair while lean back on the chair. Leona cross his arms as he look at us. "Obviously." Leona respond to us as 'shenanigans'. "With the Leech twins as his underlings, Azul is pretty famous for getting his hands on whatever. There's also the rumor that they interfere with people so they can't complete their end of the deal." Ruggie explain this to us. The fur ball frown upon the rumor.

"Those guys are a bunch of cowards!!" Then he hug my stomach in terror. "Uugghh... if Athena loses, am I gonna be worked to the bone for the rest of my school life?," Grim thought. Oh god, don't even start on that. It's too early and I rub my temples with my fingers. "Don't bring it up. I'm sure we'll figure it out before our dorm gets taken away from them," I respond. Leona gave a uneasy feeling after hearing my response and Ruggie look at the dorm leader. "Leona-san?" I heard Leona speaking. "Azul's Unique Magic is 'It's a Deal'. He can take one ability if you sign a special contract." We look at Leona with some new information. "Also, if there's anything that breaks contract the one who signed becomes absolutely obedient to Azul."
