Rosaline's POV:

"Come and take a walk... with me..." Niall put emphasis on the last two words. I was afraid the night would end badly. In my gut, I felt it.

I didn't take his hand because for one, I wasn't sure I knew who he was at the moment. He was acting as if he was a stranger to me. It's not that I didn't trust him, because I did... with my entire life. It was just that I was scared... more scared than ever.

Niall took a few steps forward until he was right in front of me. He took my hand quickly, making me flinch. His hands were warm, and mine were frozen. That had been the first time we'd touched since leaving house.

I was tugged along, led into the direction opposite from the house. It appeared to me that the street was a dead end, with an area at the end of it that was similar to the woods with lots of trees.

Three more street lights and we would either end up surrounded by trees or we would stop at the cul-de-sac.

I panicked, squeezing Niall's hand. He was walking way too fast, making me stumble along behind him. It felt like a scene I'd remember in Twilight, when Bella's human speed couldn't keep up with Edward's vampire speed. Niall was almost as inhumane as Edward, still beautiful, but very dangerous and strong.

It was on the tip of my tongue to ask Niall where we were going, but abruptly, he let go of me, walking into the dark cloaks of the trees. He was no longer in sight.

I was stood there to look stupid under the last street light that flickered.

There were two options... Follow Niall, or stand there... Alone. Neither sounded like a good idea to me. Lonesome suddenly clouded my head and the horrid thought of being lost. What if he wasn't coming back for me, I thought.

"Baby, are you coming?" Niall said poking his head out of the darkness with a rather annoyed expression. The endearment stuttered my heart, but I could feel that he was still upset with me. Why? I had no clue.

"Who, me?" I jabbed my chest with my thumb, looking around to make sure he was talking to me even though I'd known there was no one else around. At least, I hoped not.

Niall disappeared again not answering my idiotic question.

"I'm not going in there!" I yelled to Niall, wherever he was, as I exhaled noisily. He appeared again with his head sticking out of the darkness, ten feet from the last place he'd just been.

"Fine," he shrugged, though I couldn't quite see his shoulders. Niall's very face was almost like a silhouette. "Stay out here all alone... and get attacked by coyotes. I don't care..." Then he was gone again.

I didn't even try to process what was said, I was already power walking towards that direction where he'd disappeared. Later on, I realized there were no coyotes out there or even in our region and I also realized that if it came to it, Niall would be as defenseless as I would be versus a coyote. Somehow, the thought of him trying to protect me was probably what made me seek his presence.

It was almost pitch black when I was surrounded by trees. I turned in circles, walking, and wondering as I pushed tree branches out of my face.

"Niall--" I called out, dragging his name. It was like in horror films right before the victim is killed... I was always afraid to watch those films as a kid, and even now I am, but now, it was as though I were in one.

A hoot sound appeared behind me. I started to tremor in fear, walking faster or rather, running.

Hoot, hoot. It was getting closer. The closer it got, the faster I was trying to run.
