Chrysie sprinted across the rooftops towards the castle, still shrouded in the dark red fog, doing their best not to trip and fall. They stopped right before the final building, ducking behind a small wall.
There were guards on either side of the tall fence, each standing too ridged to have been unaffected. They thought for a second before climbing down the side of the building, key heavy around their neck.
A voice echoed from overhead. "April Alore and Noah Defi. Give yourselves up. Come peacefully and we might let you survive. Resist and you will be killed. Anyone found to be in Alore and her Guardian's company will be executed upon sight. You have one hour." Chrysie groaned quietly. This was not how they had expected expected this day to go. They chose to stay where they were for now.
They peeked around the corner a few minutes later and saw a man half-covered in blood being pulled towards the castle. They took the opportunity and sprinted for the wall, scrambling up the side and quietly dropping down on the other side. The key swung around their neck, reminding them of April. Reminding them why they were doing this.
They crept around the side of the yard, avoiding detection and pressing themself against the jagged rocks supporting the large metal and stone structure. They looked up and saw the red smoke swirling just a few feet above them. They turned and started to climb up the side of the structure, reaching out with their hand to touch the maroon haze. It was warm and swirled around their wrist. Chrysie climbed up to the balcony and quietly snuck into the ballroom, observing all the paintings and decorations neatly placed everywhere.
They carefully walked to a door, cautiously reaching out and grabbing the handle and pushing it open. The lights blinded them and Chrysie threw up a hand to block them.
