Chrysie smiled. "Thank you."
There was clanging and the queen motioned for Chrysie to hide. They did so just as a man was brought down the stairs and tossed into the same cell as the queen. The pair of guards turned synonymously and walked back up the stairs. Chrysie stayed hidden as the king and queen murmured quietly.
They got up to leave. "Chrysie!" They stopped, turning. "Would you be willing do do something for us?"
"Of course. You're the royal family."
"Not as royalty, sweetie," the queen said, eyes reflecting sadness. "As a concerned mother and father."
"Oh." Chrysie nodded. "I'd still do it."
"Thank you, Chrysie. You have a good heart." The queen smiled, tears in her eyes. "Can you make sure our children are okay?"
"Prince Ky and Princess Sophia?"
"Yes. We believe they're going to keep the two of them together." The king and queen looked at each other. "We know asking this of you is a lot, but they are our children," she whispered, voice cracking. "Please, just...make sure they're safe."
Chrysie nodded a second time. "Of course."
"Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, Chrysie."
"No problem." They crept back up the stairs, key still hanging heavily around their neck.
Now to just find out where exactly the princess and young prince were.
