Noah shook his head. "I don't know if that means that we're at a standoff, or if you're going to have to kill me, or whatever." He smiled, just a bit. "But what I do know is that I'm not going to blame you, okay?" He look a shaky breath. "This isn't your fault, it never was, and it never will be."
He took a second to glance over at his friends. He could see that April was crying and shaking her head, mouthing the words 'Don't. Please.' over and over again. Noah tore his eyes away, back to Cooper.
"I know you can hear me...somewhere in there. Right?" He looked at the sword between them. "Listen to me. This isn't you. You are in no way connected to whoever you think you are right now. You're just seeing through their eyes." He glanced to the ground next to them. "The last thing I want is you to blame yourself or hold it over your head. Your actions don't make you a bad person, only your intentions, okay?" Noah risked looking back up to Cooper.
He saw the red smoke around his eyes fade for just a second, and he could see fear and worry in them. Noah heard Cooper whisper something.
"I...don't want to hurt you."
"I don't want to hurt you either."
There was silence.
Then someone yelled.
"Do it, Cooper."
And the world stopped turning.
