April, Noah, Sean, Cooper, Jason, Sophia, Ky, Koko, and Chrysie ran along the side of the castle, ground slick from rainfall. They turned onto a staircase leading up to the balcony, one after the other. Everyones' personality blocks had worn off and the dim light from the castle was the only thing lighting their way.
"Did anyone see where they went?" Noah yelled.
"No, I was looking at the Watcher." April motioned with her hands. "You know, the big scary metal thing that could kill us all?"
"Yeah, I know what you're talking about." Noah could sort of move his arm. It was still sort of numb, and it hurt like hell, but that wasn't exactly his first priority right now. "Where you you think they went?"
"Throne room, maybe?" They worked their way through the halls.
Noah found the door and almost crashed into it, shoving it open with his good shoulder and stumbled a bit. "Look. The flag is ripped." He pointed to the flag above the thrones, which did indeed have what appeared to be a burn dragging straight through the crown in the center.
"And a note." Cooper bent down, picking up the crisply folded piece of paper.
"What's it say?"
He opened it, eyes scanning the lines quickly.
"Another day, another way.
That's just how to play the game.
We haven't fled, merely waiting,
For next time when you are our plaything.
You heros, you! Look at this, you've won!
But this is just the rising sun.
A battle cry, a killer falls,
Won't you join us in our halls?"
