Chapter One:
*Knock* *Knock*
When after pressing the doorbell for five times straight no one opened the door I started knocking on the door. My grip around the handle of the trolley went tighter. Buzo was constantly licking my hand now he also became tired and stopped. I saw the aunty of 4th floor crossed me, she was staring at me or my clothes may be. There was nothing bad with my clothes, I was in my daily pajamas with panda prints on it. It was cute to be very honest. And a plane yellow t-shirt, which was not at all stinking, fortunately. Or maybe she was looking at my hair, oh was it looking that bad? It was in a regular messy bun.
Why isn't Maanav opening the door?
I banged on the door this time. He was literally testing my patients now. I kicked on the door next.
"Open the door asshole!"
It was enough I couldn't wait anymore. And guess what the door opened, finally! He rubbed his eyes and looked at me properly. What, he was sleeping like right now? It was probably 6 of the evening. Passing a glare I pushed him and entered in the apartment."Jiya, hey.", he shut the door and turned to me. I put Buzo down then sat on the bean bag near the dining table.
"Hey buddy.", Maanav pulled Buzo up as he ran to him. I pressed my forehead and leaned my back against the bag.
"What's wrong?", he asked noticing me now.
"I am gonna live here for few days. And I am not asking because this is the only place I can stay. But I promise this is just for few days, then I will leave..."
"Woh woh slow down.", he dragged a chair and sat in front of me, "First of all you can stay here as long as you want and you don't even have to ask for that. And second what exactly happened?"
"What happened?", I took a deep breath, "My father kicked me out from the apartment happened.", I shouted, "No correction, I left happened."
"Why though?", he asked calmly.
"Self-respect Maanav.", I raised my eye brows.
"Would you mind to explain?", he did the same thing.
"Ok.", I stood up from my seat, "Maa Baba came this afternoon."
"Oh are they here?"
"Don't you dare to tell me that you want to meet them right now.", I said in anger and of course he got that and nodded a no."Good. And as usual my father started saying what am I still doing in Mumbai? Why ain't I coming back to Kolkata? Same words, same drama over and over. URGH!", I kicked the bean bag, "And you can't imagine what he said today. He said this is my house and you can't stay here anymore. Can you believe that? CAN YOU? I have a self-respect dude. After he said that I couldn't stay there anymore. Right?"
"Right. Totally.", he nodded obedient-ly.
"And you are the nearest person I can come to.", I admitted.
"Nearest?", he nodded. "You mean nearest to your apartment."
I nodded a yes. I mean of course he lived next to my door, in the anger I barely picked up all my stuffs, I just walked out.
I saw Maanav walked to the table to grab a bottle of water. Passing that to me he uttered, "You need to sit down first. Breath, drink and sit."
I sat down, finished the half of the bottle. Maanav was looking at me, I knew that look, very well.
