Disappointment

My phone went off while Ryan and I were sleeping. I grumbled because I didn't want to wake up. Ryan unwrapped his arms around me and sat up. He grabbed my phone and it was Nick. I could tell that Ryan was mad because he got up and stormed out of the room after he threw my phone on the bed. I got my phone and I realized why he got pissed. I got up and ran to him.

"Babe, where are you?" I shouted. I heard mumbling in the spare room. I walked in to see Ryan looking through my artwork. "What are you doing?" I asked, nervously. I wished he didn't find the sketch of him and I naked in bed with the date of last year at the bottom of it. Sure enough, it was on the desk but he kept going through everything under the sun.

"Are there anymore drawings of something similar to this?" he asked, holding up that sketch.

"No and that was like a year ago when I sketched that. What's your point?" I said and he glared at me.

"Is this Miguel and you?" he asked and I shook my head.

"It's me and you..." I trailed off. He quickly relaxed once he figured it out.

"Claire, why did you draw this?" he asked.

"I don't know, maybe because I wanted there to be an us." I said. He set the sketch down and held me close.

"We are an us." He said, softly.

"I was talking about last year, that's when I sketched that." I mentioned and he looked down at me.

"I never knew you felt that way toward me last year." he said.

"I wanted to keep it a secret but you found the sketch while you went through all of them." I said. He took a deep breath.

"I thought you were hiding something from me." he said.

"No, I'm not hiding anything from you." I stated. He kissed the top of my head.

"Okay baby, I'm sorry for accusing you for something that wasn't true." He said. I looked up at him and touched his cheek.

"It's alright, babe." I said, softly. We walked down to the kitchen and I sat on one of the stools at the counter. Ryan grabbed two cans of Pepsi out of the fridge and handed me one. I didn't open it and Ryan looked at me, confused.

"Are you okay, baby?" he asked and I slightly nodded my head. Knowing, I was somewhat lying to both him and myself. I didn't feel good to my stomach but I hoped it would eventually pass. I reached for an apple from the fruit basket. Ryan looked at me with worry because he knew that I was lying to him. "Will you please tell me the truth??" he asked.

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away??" I asked and he shook his head as he took a sip of his pop.

"I doubt that baby. Come here." He said and I leaned closer to him. He felt my forehead. "You're warm, baby." He softly said and I groaned. I hated being sick and I didn't hold out long enough to hide it like I wanted. I knew he was going to make me go lay down in bed. "Landslide" began to play from my phone. Emily Robinson was calling me. She was a member of the Dixie Chicks.

"Hey Emily." I said as I answered her call. Ryan stared at me like a concerned father would to his sick child. "No, I can't come to your party with all the other fantastic bands. Ryan wouldn't let me because I might be getting sick." I said with disappointment.

"What party?" Ryan asked, curiously. I shooed him away.

"I'm sorry Em. I'll talk to you later. Bye." I said and placed my phone on the counter.

"What party??" Ryan asked me again.

"It's a band bash where all the bands get together and have a huge concert battle." I mumbled. "This would be the first year of me not being able to go." I added.
