Getting Answers Just Raises More Questions

(Y/N): Oh, I'm sorry, was there something that you needed?

Volga: Of course, I was because I heard of the arrival of a special group of huntsmen and huntresses to Argus. I just wanted to confirm these claims. It appears that they may be right.

I began to tense up. Something about this guy wasn't right. There was something in his voice and mannerisms that made me feel sick. I tried my best to avoid having to talk to him for any longer.

(Y/N): I'm not sure what you're talking about, sir. I think you may be mistaken.

I began to shut the door, but not before he spoke up again.

Volga: Is that how you Jedi treat guests?

I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard this. I was now more confused than anything. How does this random guy know who the Jedi are? Could it be possible that this guy was working for Saeris? The seeds of curiosity had already been planted, and I needed answers. I stepped out onto the front porch and shut the door behind me. I grabbed one of my hatchets from out of its holder, holding it tightly and making sure that this man saw it.

(Y/N) firmly: What do you want?

Volga: Just to talk, sir.

(Y/N): I'm assuming whoever put you up to this already told you who we are.

Volga: One could say that, yes.

(Y/N): Now, next question, who exactly is it that put you up to this?

Volga: Mr. (L/N), nobody ordered this of me. I come here out of my own fruition. I answer to noone.

(Y/N): Then do me a favor and fuck off.

Volga's eyes narrowed slightly. We stood there, glaring at each other, for another few moments. He then broke the silence by speaking up in a harsh tone.

Volga harshly: Very... well...

Volga then turned and walked away.

Volga: Do not expect empathy in the future... only malice.

I was angered by this, he was clearly a bad guy, but there was nothing much I could do considering he had not made any attempt to attack or provoke me. I simply sighed and put my hatchet away. I turned around and reentered the house. The first thing I noticed was that only Ren and Nora were still in the living room.

(Y/N): Where are Sapphire and Sara?

Nora: They went upstairs, don't know why though.

(Y/N): I'll check it out.

Nora: Alright.

The two of them continued their conversation and I walked upstairs. As I walked down the hallway looking for the two of them, I was stopped by a framed photo that caught my eye. It was a picture of four people... a Huntsmen team. From left to right they stood in a line, posing in their own way with their weapons. The one on the far left was clearly Sapphire. She held a spear. Next to her was a boy with blonde hair and blue eyes. He held a curved dagger and had a metallic mask covering the bottom half of his face. Next to him was a girl with green hair and green eyes holding a revolver. At the far right was a girl with black hair and purple eyes holding a crossbow. As I inspected this photo, I was caught off guard by Sapphire's voice.

Sapphire: Team ASSH.

(Y/N): Oh, Sapphire! I didn't know you were there. I... also never knew you were a huntress.

Sapphire: One of Haven's finest. We made a good team, nearly won Vytal as well.

(Y/N): Who are they?

Sapphire pointing to Black haired girl: That's Heather Styrling, she was always a quiet bookworm.

(Y/N): Reminds me of someone I know.

Sapphire pointing to the green haired girl: That's Gwen Sigal, she was always so bubbly and excited.

(Y/N): ALSO reminds me of someone I know.

Sapphire pointing to the blonde haired boy: And that's...

(Y/N): Sapphire?

Sapphire: That's Steele Lockharte...

My heart dropped. Qrow and Ozpin told me that Steele Lockharte was the true identity of Darth Saeris, and there he was, on a team with the woman who was letting us stay in her home. What were the chances? As I looked over to Sapphire, I saw that she had tears in her eyes and streaking down her face.

(Y/N): Sapphire? Are you okay?

Sapphire: Oh, yeah I'm fine, it's just... this brings back old memories.

(Y/N): This, Steele Lockharte guy, can you tell me more about him?

Sapphire hesitated.

(Y/N): You- You don't have to, I was just-

Sapphire: No, no, it's fine.

I nodded and let her speak at her own pace.

Sapphire: As you know, Mistral isn't exactly the most accepting place when it comes to Faunus. I think that's a fairly obvious statement. So what kind of shock would I get when I find a young Viper Faunus coming to Haven trying to make a name for himself. At the initiation, I knew there was something he was hiding, I just wanted to know more. He started off never trusting the three of us with even the smallest things, but eventually, he grew a bond with us. We were the first people that he dared call friends. We were there for him, and even more than that, I was there for him. The two of us in particular grew... rather close, to say the least.

(Y/N): You had feelings for him?

Sapphire: We both had feelings for each other. Funnily enough, we both confessed to each other at the same time. After that, we were so happy together. Eventually, after being together for a while, he proposed to me... and I said yes. We were going to be married.

(Y/N): Were?

Sapphire: Steele... he... he disappeared eight years ago. That's why... That's why I went to Mantle. That's where he's from, so I thought that, just maybe, I could find him there. I never did though.

I didn't have the heart to tell her the truth.

(Y/N): Look, I don't want you to feel bad about this, so I'll just drop it here. Where's Sara?

Sapphire: She's on the balcony, just go down there and to the right, the balcony entrance is in that room.

(Y/N): Thank you.

I walked into the room she pointed to, it appeared to be a bedroom. On a dresser on one side of the room, I found a few more pictures. They were all of Sapphire and Steele being happy together. In all of these photos, he was missing his facial scar. I realized I was getting distracted and quickly opened the sliding glass door to the balcony and stepped outside. I turned my head to the left and saw Sariel leaning against the balcony and looking out at the beautiful city.

Sariel: I'm assuming you're not up here to do some birdwatching.

(Y/N): How long... did you know?

Sariel then snapped her head towards me, she had an offended look on her face.

Sariel: You thought I was hiding this from you? I just found out too, dipshit!

I stepped back a step and she looked back out towards the city.

Sariel: When we were in Mantle, she only ever said that she was looking for her Fiance, she never gave me a name. Who would have thought that one of my friends' lovers would turn out to be one of our enemies.

(Y/N): We just need to hope he's not our enemy for much longer. We have more important things on the horizon.

Sariel: Yeah... One can only hope...

Author's Note: And there... we... are! Another chapter in the Volume 6 Arc. Believe me, having a chapter made almost entirely originally is a tedious, yet rewarding process for any fanfic writer. I'm still having fun writing this, so I will be sure to continue. Until next time pals!
