(Y/N) POV
(Y/N): This is it, my friends... This is where we end this war... or die trying...
Sariel: Not exactly reassuring...
(Y/N): I can't lie to you guys though... there is a good chance that this is a losing fight, even if we have a way to defeat Salem. She is simply that powerful.
Blakblaz: We can't think like that right now. We must trust in the Force and let it lead us to victory.
I sighed and then smiled.
(Y/N): You're right... I'm just worried is all.
Sariel: We're all worried right now. Not only are we flying a stolen ship into a swarm of grimm with a body bag, but we're also carrying the legacy of the Jedi on our shoulders. But, we are the beacon of hope for Remnant. We are going to win, because we have to!
Sara gave me that same confident smirk she always gave me. It astonished me that there wasn't a single ounce of fear on her face. She was certain that this plan would work. Her confidence did a lot to reassure me.
(Y/N): I know it will, Sara.
I looked out the window and saw the docks of the massive beast growing ever closer. The other ship that we saw on the camera feed was still here and also completely undamaged.
Meanwhile in Mantle
3rd. Person POV
An LAAT gunship landed in the crater. Once it touched the ground, out stepped several clones followed by Robyn Hill and finally Qrow Branwen. A pair of clones escorted Robyn to a medical tent and Qrow was left to wander the de facto headquarters of the Mantle Liberation Front. It wasn't long before he was faced with Commander Brush.
Brush: Mr. Branwen, are you hurt?
Qrow: I'm fine, where are the kids?
Brush: Are you sure? I think we should at least-
Qrow: I'm fine! Where are the kids?
Brush paused for a moment before responding.
Brush: They hijacked an airship and went into that giant Grimm.
The color drained from Qrow's face.
Qrow: You let them go in there alone? Do you have any idea what's in there?
Brush: They insisted that they go alone. They claim to have a way to defeat her.
Qrow: Salem CAN'T be defeated! You sent them to their deaths! You just threw away our last piece of hope and sent innocent children to die! What the hell is-
The clone commander slapped Qrow across the face before grabbing him by the shoulders.
Brush: Get ahold of yourself, man! They're coming back! I believe in them, and you should too!
Qrow shook off Commander Brush and took out his flask.
Qrow: With what we're up against, belief means nothing.
He walked away, chugging his flask. Brush sighed and took off his helmet.
Brush: Maybe to you, Qrow... maybe to you...
Meanwhile on the giant grimm.
The distant squelching of contracting flesh could be heard as the corridors themselves continued to pulsate and throb. The Jedi walked slowly through these flesh-laden corridors with looks of disgust, uncertainty, and fear on their faces.
Sariel: This place is disgusting.
Vega: It's hard to believe that Salem is using a living thing as a warship.
Yang: The grimm are hardly living things, Vega. They exist only to destroy all other life. They're demons in everything but name.
Sariel: It's almost as if they're made of the Dark Side itself.
Suddenly, (Y/N)'s eyes widened and he jumped into a crevice on the wall.
(Y/N): Everyone, take cover.
The rest of the Jedi also ran into the crevice.
Weiss: What is it?
(Y/N): A dark presence, I can feel it getting closer.
Sariel: I can feel it too, but I can't tell the direction it's coming from.
(Y/N) began to concentrate harder.
(Y/N): It feels like it's...
His tone then showed a hint of confusion.
(Y/N): Below us?
Just then, a part of the corridor's floor began to bulge. The Jedi all stared at it with a mixture of confusion and disgust. After a few seconds, the bulging section burst and a bloodied hand erupted from it. Another hand then emerged from the freshly created hole and both hands began to claw their way out of the hole. Eventually, the head and shoulders that the arms were attached to emerged as well. It was Darth Saeris. As his head emerged, he took in a long, hard inhale as he continued to make his way out of the floor. Once he was fully out of the hole, the Jedi were able to get a good look at him. He was covered from head to toe in blood, blood that didn't seem to be his. His face showed both exhaustion as well as a raw, unbridled hatred. It wasn't a moment later that the Sith Lord noticed the Jedi nearby.
Saeris: You're here too?
Sariel: You came out of the floor?
Saeris: Don't test my patience, bitch.
Sariel growled in anger.
(Y/N): What are you doing here?
Saeris: The same reason you are, I assume.
(Y/N): You have already attempted to kill Salem.
Saeris: She was too fast to keep up with... even I couldn't do her in. I pity you for still believing that you can pull it off.
(Y/N): We don't just believe. We have a way to kill her.
Saeris didn't seem to believe (Y/N)'s statement.
Saeris: Regardless... I have begun to think. If it was truly my destiny to kill Salem, then I would have succeeded in the bridge. I may need to put my past to the side... and seek a new destiny. Perhaps my apprentice is my new destiny... Killing Salem may be your destiny after all. I wish you the best of luck, Jedi. Succeed where I have failed, if for nothing more than the safety of Remnant itself.
With that, Darth Saeris walked down the way the Jedi had just come: Towards the docks.
Sariel: His voice... he sounded...
(Y/N): Broken... He watched everything he worked to achieve shatter before his eyes. Whatever Salem did to Saeris, it changed him.
Blakblaz: I feel sorry for the poor soul. Not only is he corrupted by hatred, but consumed by loss.
(Y/N): There is only one way to make this right. We must achieve our ultimate goal.
Sariel: Defeat Salem.
Vega: Liberate Remnant.
Blake: Rebuild the Jedi Order.
Ruby: Give the world hope.
(Y/N): Right. Here it is, my friends. This is the end of our journey. For better or for worse, one faction will fall today. Let's go!
(A/N): Oh, it's all building up. Two more chapters, everyone! The last two chapters of the entire story. They will detail in full the final battle against Salem. This is the endgame, my friends. I hope you're ready!
