3rd. Person POV
Volga walked down the street, clutching a golden amulet hanging from his neck.
Volga in head: That little brat! I'll show him.
Malice in Volga's head: Don't get caught up in anger just yet, Rainier. We still have work to do. I am assuming that you did as I asked of you.
Volga in head: Yes, that is correct.
Malice in Volga's head: Good... Good... All is going well so far.
(Y/N) POV
I sat on the couch, rubbing my temples in confusion and frustration. This day alone had been eventful and all that had happened was just a lot to take in. In the middle of my "contemplations of grandeur", I heard Sara's voice from behind me.
Sariel: Having some trouble there, bud?
(Y/N): I've just been thinking a lot.
Sariel: Oh no, that's not good.
(Y/N): Shut up, this is serious.
Sariel: Okay, okay. What's on your mind.
She sat down next to me.
(Y/N): It's just been... really stressful lately. I thought Argus was just going to be a small stepping stone, but now we have some creepy guy who most definitely has it out for us.
Sariel: I think... that you just need to accept that nothing is going to be simple for us nowadays.
(Y/N): You know, you're not very good at giving advice.
Sariel: No, I am excellent at giving advice. You're just not good at listening.
(Y/N): Not helping your case there, Sara.
Sariel: Okay, look... Despite what the both of us say, the two of us are pretty much aliens, okay. We don't exactly belong here.
(Y/N): Okay, where exactly are you going with this.
Sariel: Shut up, and I'll get to it. Anyways, my point is that we came from a galaxy where the Jedi were widely seen as grand warriors, the best of the best. We gave the galaxy hope. And... I think that the reason we're in this world is because these people are in desperate need of some hope. You're in this for the long haul, Perp. You don't get to sit this one out. I know it can get overwhelming at times, but we still have a job to do.
(Y/N): Yeah... I guess you're right... Damn, I just hope the others are okay.
Sariel: They're strong, I'm sure they're gonna be fine.
Earlier that day
3rd. Person POV
Qrow: It doesn't look like this is going to let up.
Blake: I just want to get this stupid relic to Atlas.
Weiss: Let's hope we don't have to walk all the way there.
Yang: I thought trails led somewhere.
Maria: Do you have nothing better to do then to harass a defenseless old lady.
Ruby: Everyone, quiet. Do you hear that?
They all stopped to listen. Above the sound of the wind was the telltale sound of metal hinges creaking. As they continued onward, they found the source of the creaking. A metal farm gate was swaying slightly in the wind. They all stood at the entrance of a group of buildings and houses. The sign above them read "Brunswick Farms".
Blake: Well, at least one good thing happened today.
Weiss: It looks abandoned.
Ruby gesturing to the snowstorm: At least it's better than this.
Qrow: Come on, I think we could all use some rest.
All of them then walked into the property. As they reached one of the houses, the storm began to pick up to the point that visibility was next to nothing.
Ruby: I don't get it. The empty towns I passed through were all damaged or unfinished... but this place looks fine.
Weiss: Maybe everyone left in a hurry, before things took a turn.
Qrow jiggled the doorknob, realizing it was locked.
Qrow: Stay on guard.
Then, Qrow kicked the door open. All of them filed in one by one, weapons at the ready. They stood by each other in the entry room, nobody was inside as far as they could tell.
Maria: Close the door already. It's cold enough in here as it is.
Weiss, Blake, and Oscar then closed and barricaded the door.
Blake: I saw a chimney from the outside, maybe we could get a fire going?
Weiss: Please. I'll look for some blankets.
Qrow: Yang, go with her.
As ruby began to look at and inspect photos on the wall, Blake came beside her.
Blake: What do you think?
Ruby: Something doesn't feel right.
Suddenly, Ruby felt a strange urge to look out the front window once again. When she did, she saw something she didn't expect. It was a flickering light. It looked like it came from a second story window on one of the other houses.
Ruby: Uhh, Blake, can you come take a-
Ruby was cut off by the sound of Weiss screaming from upstairs.
Ruby: Weiss!
The two of them ran up to make sure that their friend was okay. They got to the bedroom that Weiss and Yang were currently in, followed by everyone else. They say Weiss and Yang on the ground, utterly terrified and staring at the bed. In the bed lay two very thoroughly dead people. Weiss sat there, hyperventilating, while Yang stayed silent yet still very scared.
Timeskip a few minutes
Qrow POV
After the shock from upstairs, I wanted to check to see if there were any more bodies, or if anyone was possibly alive in this place. I stepped into the blizzard, it was near impossible to see, but I was able to get through it. I started with the closest house to the one we were currently staying in. As I looked at the windows, I saw that they were all pitch black, I don't know what I was expecting, but it still made me feel odd. I tried at the front door. Surprisingly, this one was unlocked. As I stepped into the living room, I heard what sounded like a quiet voice coming from upstairs. I drew my sword and stupidly yelled out.
Qrow: Someone up there?
Just as I yelled this, the voice was nowhere to be heard. I began to get uneasy. I hesitantly walked upstairs to the apparent source of the noise. I entered one of the bedrooms, and found another pair of bodies in the same state of slow decay. I didn't know whether to feel sad or scared. As I left the room, I felt as if I were being watched. I didn't know if it was paranoia or whatever made those sounds, but I didn't want to stick around and find out. I quickly checked the test of the house and got out of there.
??? POV
???: A huntsman?
(A/N): Hey guys, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I have a newfound extra piece of motivation to write (aka I'm in an interesting part that I really want to write). Aaaanyways, I'll be sure to get another chapter out as soon as I can. Thanks for sticking around for this long, I really appreciate it. I'll see you later!
