As you can tell by the picture above, this chapter will focus on Kaimaki.

Maki's POV

I sat in the library, reading a book, while also thinking about me working with Kokichi.
"I've barely done anything since I joined him. Was it a mistake to join?"
My thoughts were interrupted by a paper airplane. I looked around and didn't see anyone. I was about to throw the thing away when I saw a bit of ink on the inside. My curiosity got the best of me, so I opened it. There was a message.
Will you go to prom with me?
I facepalmed myself, because I had a pretty good idea who the person was who wrote this.

Kaito's POV

I put some of my books in my locker, and jumped a bit when I closed it and saw Maki. "Maki! You scared me. How can I help you?"
She took out a piece of paper. My paper. "You could have asked me directly."
"What're you talking about?" "Don't play dumb. This is your handwriting." "Wait, how do you know my handwriting?" "We sit next to each other, so I catch a few glimpses here and there."
"Damn, she's good." "So, child caregiving involves knowing handwriting?" She froze. "Yeah", she said, but it sounded sad.
"Why do you even want to take me to prom?" "I wanted to get to know you." She pinched the bridge of her nose. "You can still do that normally, idiot." "But I'll be with you all the time at prom, so nothing can interrupt our conversations. Plus, I don't want you going alone."

Maki's POV

Hearing Kaito say these things made me feel... strange. I don't know why. But I wondered, why does he care about me so much? No one has ever cared for me. Not like this.
"Fine. I'll go to prom with you." Kaito then made the goofiest grin on his face. "Great! It's a date!"
For some reason, I blushed when he called it a date. "Yeah. A date."
He was about to walk away when I grabbed him. "For the record, we're only going as friends. Got that?" He nodded. "Loud and clear."
"Good."
