Chapter Seventeen

I finished up my homework sliding it back into my backpack, I walked over to my mirror throwing my hair up into a bun and heading out to the Curtis  house like I promised. I could see Two was sitting on the porch steps. "Two ?" I questioned as I got closer. He looked up, "Oh there you are I was just about to leave I thought you weren't going to show up." He said as he gestured for me to sit next to him. I walked over to sit next to him, we talked for a while and the sun started going down. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to him giving me a quick kiss. "Oh gross are you kidding me! Again!" a voice came from in front of us. I pulled away from Two looking in front of us. "Sorry Pony." I said, trying not to laugh. Two didn't try very hard he started laughing, I smacked him lightly on the arm and he tried to stop having mild giggles.  Johnny   moved out from behind stunned. "Holy hell." I said, my eyes widening. "You didn't see anything ok Johnny  , and stay quiet about this Pony!" Two said taking his arm off my shoulder and standing up. Pony rolled his eyes and pulled Johnny   inside behind him. "I knew it." Johnny   whispered as he walked by talking to Pony. I rubbed my forehead and stood up."We gotta stop being secretive soon." Two said, rubbing the back of his neck. "I get that Two , ok!" I said throwing my hands up and facing him. "Hey, hey woah I'm sorry." He said putting his hands up in defense. I rubbed my forehead again because this situation was giving me an awful headache. "I'm sorry this whole situation just stresses me out." I said looking down. He reached his hand up pulling me into a hug and holding me close. "I'm sure your brother will be supportive." He said rubbing my back and resting his head on top of mine. I listened to his heartbeat while I pressed myself against his chest swaying back and forth. "C'mon let's head inside." He said kissing the top of my head. I pulled away and walked in first. Two trailed behind me waiting a while so it wasn't suspicious. "Hey you made it!" Steve  said, walking over to me pulling me into a hug. "Ya I don't let up on my promises." I said smiling. I walked over to the coffee table sitting on the ground next to Steve. Two hung back in the corner on one of the rare occasions Dally was here and not getting drunk, or getting thrown in jail. Two would sneak glances at me, and we'd just admire each other. Dally had to pull his attention back to their conversation at one point and I could tell he was getting suspicious. Dally would sneak a look over at me anytime he caught me looking at Two . "crap." I whispered to myself pulling my attention back to Soda and Steve's boring conversation about cars. I decided to move to the kitchen helping Darry with dishes. "So how's school going?" Darry questioned as he handed me a dish to dry. "Pretty good with my grades they expect me to be able to graduate early, maybe even get a scholarship." I said happily drying the plate and putting it in the cupboard. "Wow, Catherine that's amazing!" Darry said, setting down a plate to give me a hug. "If you get the chance take it, don't let us or anything else hold you back this is a once in a lifetime chance." He said picking up the plate again. I smiled, placing another plate in the cupboard. "I'll be right back, I have to do something." I said walking out of the kitchen grabbing Two s arm and dragging him behind me. "I need to speak with you outside." I said to Steve  dragging both of them outside. "Ok well, this obviously isn't going to help my stress hiding this from you any longer." I said looking over at Steve. "What is it?" Steve  said, raising an eyebrow and crossing his arms. "Steve...I'm in Love with Jamie."
