It was late, 8 or 9and it was pitch black outside everybody but Pony had gone to bed. He was sitting on the floor next to me reading. I kept hold of Twos hand and rest my head against the couch. Pony read out loud till he started dozing off. He rested his head against my shoulder, I didn't care to move. I was exhausted and it had been a hard day for all of us. I kept thinking about Steve, it wasn't right he never yelled at me, let alone roughed me up like that. I shouldn't have let him leave alone. I was just so scared and...and angry I'd never been angry at Steve I've never had a reason to this was all so new to me. I was finally feeling drowsy and I slowly fell asleep.
~~THE MORNING~~
I woke up to the sun beating down on my neck from the window above the couch. Pony was still sleeping on my shoulder. Everybody in the house was still asleep even Darry, I don't blame them last night, it was awful. Pony woke up not much after I did, he got up to make breakfast while I stayed with Two. I hadn't let go of his hand in hours. Even as I slept I kept a hold of his hand, I got up onto my knees to look at him. His lip was busted and he had bruises growing on on his cheek a little cut in his cheek. I pushed the hair out of his face with my other hand, his face was cute if you removed all the bruises and cuts. It was soft and caring, but with all these cuts he looked rugged and tough. Pony brought me a plate of food, before I could eat anything Soda and Darry walked out. Soda helped Pony clean up and Darry cleaned up Two. I kept a tight hold on his hand and it was busted as well. Two hadn't woken up since yesterday, it was worrying me I lightly rubbed my fingertips on his cheek. I was starting to get hungry so I let go of his hand for the first time in hours although it felt like days and turned to take a bite of my food.  Almost instantaneously a murmured noise came from behind me. I sprang back up onto my knees to look at him, he groggily rubbed his eyes and opened them just slightly. "TWO!!" I exclaimed, placing a hand on his cheek. "He's awake!" I yelled looking at the kitchen. Darry poked his head out to see what was happening. "Oh hey Kitten." He said wincing. I placed a hand over the stitching and another on the top of his chest. "Settle, you'll bust a stitch." I said applying pressure to lay him back against the couch. "Yes ma'am." He said, lifting his head back with a laugh. I couldn't help but let out a giggle. A couple minutes passed and I cut up some of my food and fed it to Two, I wasn't hungry anymore anyways. I kept thinking, I was what woke him up. Me letting go is what woke him up, OUR connection had to be there...something had to be there.
