I set my drink next to his plate on the table and tried my hardest to open my eyes without wincing. I went back to resting my head on my hand and tried to drown out the commotion around me. We sat enjoying the sunny morning, well they were, I wasn't when soda walked through the door with someone trailing behind him. My eyes finally focused on who it was, Steve! I completely forgot my situation and jumped up nearly knocking him over. "Hey kid." He said steadying himself and wrapping his arms around me. "I'm so sorry." I said resting my head on his shoulder. "Cmon Cat it's ok we went over this yesterday." He said rubbing lightly on my back. "I'm still sorry." I said lifting my head just barely, it was enough for a head rush and I rest it back against his shoulder so I didn't just fall. He shifted my weight into his arms and helped me back down onto the couch, sitting down next to me. I rest my head on his shoulder while he settled into the couch. "Hey thanks again Two." Steve said looking over at Two. "No problem, anytime." He said, giving me a quick smile and turning to face the TV again. I smiled and relaxed against Steve's side. It felt good being around him again, he was my safe space I guess I was just shocked that could ever happen between us. It wasn't long until pony and Johnny left for school, and Darry had to drive Steve and Soda to work. Once more leaving me and Two alone. Two stood up taking his plate into the kitchen. "Wow, didn't know you did that." I said with a giggle and sitting up against the couch arm. "When it's not my house I do...and especially when it's Darrys house, he'd skin me if I didn't clean up after myself." He smiled sitting down on the couch next to me. "Why'd you choose to skip school, I've stayed alone before." I said facing him. "Well I don't trust the socs, they don't give up so easily when we fight back, and also now I have a reason to skip instead of hiding." He said laughing. The laughing slowly ceased and I could feel the headache coming back, I rest my head back in my hand rubbing my temples. "You ok?" He said, placing a hand on my shoulder. "My headache is awful." I said wincing in pain. "Hey, hey it's okay c'mere." He said slowly and gently pulling me over to rest against him. My head fit perfectly in the crook of his neck as the rest of me laid against him, his arm resting around me. "Is that better." He said with a little laugh. "Much better." I said relaxing against him, the warmth of his body heat and rhythmic heartbeat was soothing. I wrapped my arms around his waist holding tight against him as he rubbed my back. "Y'know I've wanted to do this for so long." He said looking down at me. "I could say the exact same." I said closing my eyes and leaning against him. This was the moment I'd been dreaming of my whole life.
