Flashback
3rd POV
"Your father has asked me to inform you all, the mayor has announced that a masquerade ball shall be held in honor of the Umbrella Academy." Pogo announced to the Hargreeves children.
"A ball?" Diego huffed, "we're like kids, what makes him think that's something we'd enjoy!?"
"Hush, you!" Allison said playfully, wacking Diego over the head, "Who knows, a ball might be fun."
"At least now we can use Dad's pointless dancing lessons." Klaus chuckled.
"When is this taking place, Pogo?" Luther asked over his siblings.
"If I remember correctly... it is to take place on October 1st." Pogo nodded.
Five frowned, "Ew, not our birthday. Why didn't the mayor consult with us about this first?"
"I believe he already spoke with your father about this."
The Hargreeves collectively groaned.
"Of course he did," Diego rolled his eyes. "Why didn't anyone tell us sooner? That's in two days!"
"Fret not, children, I'm sure the ball won't be as dreadful as you think it will." Pogo offered a comforting smile, "(Y/n) and her family will also be in attendance, so that's something to look forward to."
Diego, Ben, and Vanya perked up at this new information.
"Wait," Klaus began, "If it's in honor of the Umbrella Academy, what does that mean for Vanya?"
Vanya looked down at her hands in embarrassment, avoiding the gazes of her siblings. Of course, Hargreeves had always excluded her from everything else, why should this time be any different?"
Pogo sighed, "I am afraid... I'm unsure on the situation regarding Miss Vanya. I apologize..."
Vanya nodded solemnly and Klaus patted her shoulder.
Luther cleared his throat, "Nevermind that, someone needs to make sure (Y/n) knows about this."
"She's coming over tomorrow, isn't she?" Diego asked.
"Yes, Master Diego. And since tomorrow is a Saturday, your father requests you make sure to brush up on your dancing and prepare your outfits for the ball." Pogo added. "That is all, children."
Pogo turned and left the room. The Hargreeves siblings glanced around at eachother with unsure expressions.
Klaus snickered,"Hmmm.. y'know this'll be the perfect opportunity for me to finally make (Y/n) fall in love with me."
Allison and Luther exchanged knowing glances at the sight of Ben and Diego visibly tensing.
"Like hell you will!" Diego scoffed.
"I dunno, Diego. People fall in love while dancing all the time~ Why do you think they have one ball scene in, like, every princess movie?" Klaus teased.
Vanya giggled softly to herself at how irked Diego had become. Ben and Five were as equally bothered by Klaus' words, but were less visibly worked up.
"You're not allowed to dance with (Y/n)!" Diego fumed.
"It doesn't matter, (Y/n) will probably dance with everyone at least once." Allison objected.
