Flashback

3rd POV

"I think we should start heading back soon." Luther said, looking down at his wrist watch.

"Oh shit, he's right," (Y/n) sighed, "We need to get back before Mr. Hargreeves."

The siblings piled what they could of their fair prizes and souvenirs into (Y/n)'s backpack, promising to retrieve it from her after the ball. They rushed home as fast as they could and got right to work. (Y/n) joined Vanya and Allison upstairs where Grace had already laid out their dresses. A small makeup bag sat on Allison's vanity. Grace sat Vanya down in front of the mirror and began to apply a darker pink lipstick to her pale lips.

"Press your lips together, dear, like this-" Grave rubbed her lips together, demonstrating how to make sure the color covered everything. "Very pretty," Grace smiled proudly.

Allison helped tie/zip the back of (Y/n)'s  beautiful (f/c) dress and ran a hand through her hair, which was slightly tangled from the events of the day. "Lemme grab my brush- OOH! Can I style your hair?" Allison asked.

"Go for it." (Y/n) shrugged.

Allison giggled and began to gently brush through the knots. (Y/n) cringed a little with every tug, but eventually relaxed into it and closed her eyes. The tranquil feeling caused her to realize that no one had brushed her hair for her since she was very little. She had no older sisters to take after, nor was her mother present enough for (Y/n) to inherit any traits from her as well.

(Y/n)'s closest family member was her brother, who was her absolute pride and joy. It was from him that she  learned to read people's emotions and developed her personality after. Perhaps that was why she got along so well with the Hargreeves boys and was able to sympathize with their problems, because she grew up with someone who did the same thing for her. For that, she was undeniably grateful to her brother.

Most siblings tended to fight often, but that was never really the case with (Y/n) and her brother because of how limited their time was together due to Hargreeves' training.

Allison plugged in a curling/straightening iron and began to carefully separate (Y/n)'s hair into different sections. Although they were the same age, Allison seemed so much more mature and down to earth. When (Y/n) first met the Hargreeves, the first thing she initially noticed was how distant Allison and Vanya seemed, and so she made it her personal goal to subconsciously bring them closer together. (Y/n) loved them both dearly, and, although she'd never admit to it, she secretly idolized the idea of having a sister herself.

"Done!" Allison announced proudly.

"Wow..." (Y/n) mumbled on disbelief, "I look... really nice actually."

"Of course you do!" Allison teased, admiring her handiwork.

"(Y/n), makeup time!" Grace called out from the other side of the room.

"Come sit, Vonnie, I'll curl your bangs!"
