AN: hey gang, this book is pretty much discontinued but I thought as a last hurrah I'd publish this daft from 2020. I started writing this in middle school? I'm in college now! Woohoo! Thank you all for reading and enjoying, maybe I'll get back into writing fics again but no promises. Love you all :)
Five eyes opened slowly and he slowly attempted to sit up. I quickly pushed him back down as he winced in pain.
"Oh no you don't," I caressed the side of his face in an attempt to sooth him, "take it easy, you haven't fully recovered yet..."
Five groaned, "(Y/n)..." His voice was feeble and shaky.
I sat down in the chair Grace had placed next to his bed warily. "Yeah?"
"(Y/n)" He repeated, "(Y/n), (Y/n), (Y/n)..."
I placed the back of my palm on his forehead then to his cheek. "Five, what's wrong?" The worry in my expression must have been incredibly noticeable. Five smiled softly, trying to convince me he was alright, but I knew better than to believe him.
"(Y/n)..." He mumbled once more before hoisting his body up by his elbow. With his other hand he grabbed my chin and slowly moved my face closer to his.
"Five? How do you feel?"
He didn't respond, but instead moved his hand moved to the side of my face and pressed his lips to mine.
He kissed me. He kissed me like he meant it. This kiss didn't feel like any of the other times, no, this one was definitely different. He was being gentle, yet I could still sense the desperation he'd been feeling to just... be with me. That's right, when was the last time we just spent time together without worrying about the world around us? Right now just felt... right. I allowed myself to just melt into the moment at bay. I carefully wrapped my arms around his neck and relaxed into the interaction as my eyelids fluttered closed.
__________
"Hey (Y/n)?"
I turned over on my side to face Five and adjusted my position. "What's up?"
He sighed, "If you were given the choice to stay in the future with me or," He paused and averted his gaze, "...stay and grow up with my siblings, what would you pick?"
I was taken aback by his question. This was different than our usual late night conversations, and the way Five hesitated made me wonder what it was that seemed to be his real intentions.
"Well..." I began slowly, "That's a tough question, Five."
Something was definitely off. Five stared back at me warily as he awaited my response.
"If you hadn't run into that day, I'm sure the others would've found a way to save you. You could've gotten to experience the rest of your childhood properly and gone of missions. You could've been there to save Ben, or maybe you've made the difference in stopping the apocalypse..." Five rambled on. With each "could've" he was growing more and more anxious. "(Y/n), you could've done so much if it hadn't been for me. You could've grown up with everyone you love-"
"Not everyone." I interjected.
Five looked up at me and our eyes met once again. I shot him a stern look before laying down on my back.
