Flashback
Monday

Good ol' Reginald was never big at celebrating, or even participating, in any holidays or events with his children. Halloween was no exception. He thought it to be a waste of time and money, and so the Hargreeves never partook in any of the festivities. While other children ran around the neighborhood, going from house to house and collecting more candy than their body was capable of digesting, the Hargreeves siblings carried on with their training and lessons as if the were any other day.

This year, however, Halloween would fall on a Saturday, meaning the Hargreeves had the day off and could do as they pleased.

"Good morning!" (Y/n) greeted cheerfully as she entered the dining room.

"(Y/n), what are you doing here so early? Don't you have school today?" Luther inquired, looking up from his food.

It was early on a chilly Monday morning, and (Y/n) was dressed in one of her favorite sweaters under a coat and scarf. A stereotypical point-y black hat sat on her head, and her backpack hung from her left shoulder, which one would assume held her books and supplies.

"Yeah, and what's with the dumb hat?" Five added.

"Wha— it's a witch's hat, dumbass." (Y/n) giggled.

Diego half smiled, "That still doesn't explain why you're here."

"Oh, right," (Y/n) placed her bag down and unzipped the biggest pocket, pulling out a small paper bag with the words "Petrola's Bakery" printed on the front in large, cursive black letters. "I come bearing a gift."

"For who?" Allison asked.

(Y/n) cleared her throat awkwardly. "It's uh... its— for, uhm, Five." She answered meekly.

"WHAT!?" The Hargreeves siblings exclaimed in union.

Diego nearly choked on his food and Klaus spat his milk back in the cup, earning a disgusted look from Luther.

"Ah— Okay, it's nothing weird or anything, I swear! He returned my notes and helped me with my homework and studies, and I ended up acing the test, alright!?" (Y/n) waved her hands frantically in front of her.

"Uhm, okay. Makes sense." Klaus sighed in relief, "I thought maybe you'd have lost it or something..."

The siblings turned to look at Five, awaiting his reaction. The boy stood up abruptly and tried to hold his usual calm and collected demeanor. He walked slowly to (Y/n) and held out his hand. (Y/n) looked up at Five with a curious expression and was suddenly overcome with shyness.

The other siblings watched with great interest.

"Pfft— look at him, his face is all red." Klaus whispered to Allison. He was quickly hushed by his sisters.

(Y/n) slowly placed the bag in his hand. The touch of their hands lingered for a moment. As (Y/n) pulled away, the slight brush of her fingers across Five's hand sent a wave of bashfulness up his spine, and he realized how awkward he must have seemed.

"Ah, Thank you..." Five nodded as he scurried back to his seat.

"Well, I'll be off then." (Y/n) picked up her bag and adjusted her hat. She sent one last wave to her friends before leaving.
