I watch the bullet slice through Byakuya. I watch him crash to the floor, before I can, react, before I can do anything. Oh god. Oh my god.
"Byakuya! Byakuya!" I've forgotten my name, where we are, what we're doing. I just know who he is, and that I love him I love him. Oh god oh god oh god, he's dying. He's dying.
The colour drains from his face. Blood pours and he scrabbles at his chest, tears joining it too.
I run over, each step slow and halting, but I must be running, right? I can't- let him- die.
But he is.
"Byakuya- Don't leave me- please." I sob, tears joining blood on the stone floor. "Don't fucking leave me. Please."
He smiles at me- smiling, his heart in his eyes, his blood on the floor. I look into his eyes and cry harder. Is this my fault? Is it?!
"It's not your... fault.." He coughs. He tries to sit up, or maybe something else, but my eyes are too blurry with tears to even make out his beautiful face.
"I love you... I love you... I love you."
"I love you too Makoto." Byakuya smiles, his crystal eyes watering.
"I'm sorry."
"It's fine. I'm not going to die." He splutters, a trail of blood trickling from his nose.
"You are." I mumble numbly.
"I'm... not." His eyes flutter close.
"NO! OPEN YOUR EYES!" I sob, shaking his chest, more blood coating my trembling fingers.
"Ok, ok..."
"No. Byakuya, please. I need to get help." I stumble up, slipping on the blood on the floor.
Footsteps. FOOTSTEPS?!
"Help! HELP!!" I scream.
"Makoto?"
