mattia walked down the quiet street after leaving the hospital. his encounter with kairi never left his head. the boy looked at the sidewalk in contempt as he watched his every step. counting them, just cause.
then he felt a presence near him, mattia was always alert. so he looked up and stopped in his tracks. he saw kairi sitting by a street lamppost, nodding his head to the music playing through his airpods.
mattia watched the bubbly spirited boy with a small smile, then he saw kairi turn his head to the side. kairi gasped in excitement as a smile painted his face. 'what a coincidence!' the boy slightly screamed, he got up from the ground, dusting of his school shorts. then made his way over to the taller.
mattia still stood in place, as he hummed in response to kairi's remark. mattia turned walking towards some stairs that led him onto another street, which kairi followed.
mattia walked down the stairs with ease, as kairi hopped every other step trying to catch up to the taller. 'slow down mr. long legs! i cant keep up!' kairi huffed.
mattia glanced at the shorter, which made kairi miss a step from the boy's cold stare. kairi grabbed onto mattia blouse trying to keep himself from face planting into the concrete steps.
'woah that was close!' he said with a smile, mattia nodded before continuing to go down the steps. when they reached the end, it brought them to a dirt path. the dirt was nicely paved into the ground, and it was surrounded by cherry blossom trees and bright green grass.
'you never talk, you've always got your nose in a book... why were you in the hospital?' questioned the shorter as he looked at mattia, watching his never changing facial expression. 'a cold? it does seem to be going around.' kairi continued as he swayed his head side to side.
the pedals from the cherry blossoms fell slowly, some landing on kairi, which made him laugh. some fell on mattia but he didn't seem to care, he lifted up his white sleeve and looked at his watch.
'i'll be late for my ride, see you' mattia replied softly as he continued walking. kairi stopped in his movements, tilting his head to the side in confusion. 'ohhh i get it!' he giggled before running to catch up with mattia.
mattia was confused as to what the boy was saying, he really did have to catch his ride or he won't have one at all. 'let me ask you a favor' kairi said, walking backwards so he can look at the other boy face to face.
'i want you to keep my illness a secret, i haven't told anyone. it can be like... our own little secret!' the smaller exclaimed as mattia stopped in front of him.
'i won't tell anyone, it's not like i have anyone to tell anyways.' mattia promised which made kairi's eyes soften. 'you don't have any friends?' the boy cooed as he tried to stare into mattia's eyes.
'if you want, i'll spend the rest of my life hanging with you!' kairi grinned, which made mattia huff, 'i'm good. you should live however you want' the taller said before trying to leave again.
kairi stepped in front of him, blocking him from moving away. 'i will!' was all the boy said before giggling, he started walking the opposite way of mattia.
'arigatō mattia!' kairi yelled as he started running down the street. mattia let a small smile curve his lips as he made his way over to the black bmw waiting for him at the end of the path.
