kairi and mattia left the restaurant, they walked together down a busy sidewalk. tourist usually flooded the main city near their school, that's why mattia never walked this way. but kairi insisted on taking this way, so here they are.
'it's so pretty out today... maybe i should die on a day like this' the small boy muttered as mattia just glared at him. he didn't like the fact kairi talked about his death so freely. 'kai-,' mattia started but got cut off by kairi swiftly grabbing his hand.
he dragged the tall boy to a side street attached to the main street and ran especially fast. the street seemed never ending and kairi didn't seem to get tired from running, unlike mattia who felt like his heart was in his throat. kairi halted when they arrived at a small cafe, the name read 'cafe sakura'
mattia places his hands on his knees, trying to catch up with his rapid breathing as kairi stood in front of him and watched. kairi giggled, 'that was exciting right? cmon let's go inside'
mattia lifted his head and looked at kairi with a raised eyebrow, 'why would- you drag me like that- we could've- walked' the taller paused in between words trying to catch his breath, which made kairi laugh again.
'well i liked the running so let's go, i'm thirsty' kairi exclaimed reaching his hand out to mattia, mattia just looked at the boy's hand, completely disregarding it, standing up completely without kairi's help.
kairi put his hand back and walked into the cafe, the sweet smell of pastries hit their nostrils. the cafe was filled with people, but only a few people actually ate inside. there were fake trees decorated all over the shop, with different ornaments or beads hanging from them.
kairi and mattia ordered their drinks quickly, already deciphering what they wanted. and took a seat at a table near the window. they both pulled out their pastel green chairs and sat down at the mahogany table.
kairi hummed a tune whilst they waited for their order to arrive. when it did come, kairi squealed in excitement as he put the iced drink up to his lips. mattia doing the same, and both boys fell in love with their drinks instantly.
kairi let out a sigh before breaking the awkward silence between the two. 'this place is really pretty...' the boy laughed as he gazed around the store. mattia didn't say anything back, making kairi's eyes glance at the boy.
he was looking at the coasters that were sitting neatly at the end of the table. they were all painted with different designs but the one that caught kairi's eye was a dark pink one. it had the iconic pastel pink flowers all over it and the words 'sakura' engraved in gold.
kairi smiled before showing mattia the coaster, 'y'know why cherry blossoms bloom in the spring? once the blossoms fall in april, it's takes three months for them to sprout buds again. they wait almost a year for the weather to become warm, then bloom all at once...sakura's always wait for the best time to bloom. that's so cool right?' the boy softly informed mattia while mattia watched the boy speak.
mattia nodded as kairi took another sip of his drink, 'where'd you learn that?' mattia solemnly replied. 'my mother, cherry blossoms are her and my favorite flower' kairi smiled as he looked mattia in the eye. this time mattia looked back, creating direct eye contact with the smaller.
kairi's breathing picked up as he looked into mattia's eyes. the looked like honey and were absolutely breathtaking to the smaller, kairi's lips parted a bit as he analyzed mattia's facial features for the first time.
the taller's mop of hair always covered it, but mattia was actually very beautiful to kairi. mattia on the other hand was fighting back a blush as the boy just looked at his face. no words leaving his mouth, just staring.
kairi relished in the younger's features before mattia looked away, clearing his throat. kairi didn't care though, he wanted to know why mattia didn't showcase his face more often. but his thoughts were interrupted as his phone was violently vibrating in his pocket.
he pulled it out and saw it was his best friend, genesis, texting him asking him about his whereabouts. 'i'm gonna tell my friend about this place... we should all come together one day!' kairi proposed with a smile as he rapidly typed on his phone.
'gimme your number!' kairi asked, not looking up at the phone. 'uh no thanks' mattia dismissed which made kairi look up from his phone. he put on his best puppy dog face and looked at mattia.
'cmon pleasee. it'll be for a short while until i die. and plus we can make sure to keep close contact. mattia looked at the boy, sighed dramatically then pulled out his phone.
kairi squealed as he types in his number, sent himself a text and saved the contact. he handed mattia back his phone with a smile on his face. 'mattia, you're pretty cool.' kairi blurted out loud, which made mattia smile.
