'what the fuck are you guys doing?' genesis seethed, her tone was so obviously angry she didn't even try to hide it. kairi pulled away from mattia and smiled at his best friend. 'and didn't i tell you-,'
'genesis!' kairi cheered, standing up from the hospital bed and lunging onto the girl. 'hi guys' alvaro waved from behind genesis, mattia waved back even though he was obviously uncomfortable, 'hiii alv! i missed you! i heard about you and.. y'know' kairi laughed while trying to wink.
alvaros eyes widened, 'um, chile anyways soo... mattia how are you?' alvaro said quickly, trying to change the subject while kairi was still squeezing genesis. 'nothing really but i'm gonna go' mattia mumbled, standing up in the process.
kairi immediately pulled away from genesis with a look of disbelief on his face, 'noo no no don't leave matti! i want you all to stay' kairi whined, he grabbed mattia's hand. 'no beb, i don't want to be here right now. i'll facetime you later' mattia whispered as he pecked the smallers forehead.
kairi nodded even though he wanted to protest some more. he let go off mattia's hand and the boy left. genesis rolled her eyes at the scene, 'kairi don't even try it with him, he's no good' genesis grunted as she sat down in the empty hospital chair in the corner.
'he'd probably want to stay if gen wasn't here' alvaro shrugged as he watched kairi get back into bed without saying anything. 'what? i do nothing to him. he just comes into kairi's life and steals him from me-,'
'that's why gen, because you think he "stole him" from you as if youre kairi's girlfriend or something' alvaro huffed while he sat down at the end of kairi's bed.
kairi didn't say anything as he watched the two bicker, in all honesty he was tired of everyone except mattia. he hated when mattia left even though he knew he would see him again. he wished he lived on an island, with just him and mattia. they could cuddle all day, have make out session, mattia could pound the shit out of-
'-ri. KAIRI!' genesis screeched pulling kairi out of his thoughts. 'hmm?' he hummed not really caring what the girl had to say next because all he wanted was mattia. 'i know we can't go on vacation BUT we could have a sleepover!' she proposed.
'yeah i'm down' kairi smiled and alvaro nodded in agreement.

kairi had just gotten his iv changed, his mother thanked the nurse then closed the curtain in their room. his mom then started to tidy up by folding some of their clothes and blankets they brought from home.
kairi was writing another entry in his book before he perked his head up to look out the window, the sky looked beautiful at night, all the stars scattered around the black canvas of a sky.
it made kairi smile, if he could choose a time to pass; he'd want it to be at night. he sighed then continued to write in his book. 'i heard genesis and alvaro came by' his mom said, trying to start up a small conversation with her son.
'yeah' kairi smiled, still not looking up from his paper. 'i put some extra clothes here, kai' his mom commented, she stood up from the drawer and sat on kairi's bed. 'okay, arigatō,'
'mom?' kairi called out to his mom who was looking at her phone. 'hmm?'
'it's about after i'm dead' kairi answered back making his mom immediately turn her phone off. 'kai, don't talk like that' his mom denounced, she hated to think about the thought of her only child passing.
'i want to ask you to do something, you won't need to do it right now though' kairi faltered, he knew how his mother felt but this favor was really important to him. his mom took a deep breath. you could tell the woman was fighting her own battles due to the dark bags under her eyes and every smile she gave was weak.
'okay' she whispered.

mattia walked into the library, scanning the endless shelves of books he could choose from. he ran his finger over the spines of each book, not knowing which one he wanted to choose from.
but all his mind could think of was kairi, kairi may have been happy when mattia saw him, but mattia knew something was off. kairi had been showing visible signs that he wasn't doing well, but since kairi himself brushed them off, mattia did aswell.
and then his thoughts had came true once he looked at the text kairi just sent him.
