JUSTINS POV
this was... definitely a shitty thing to do. and he knew that.
but was justin considered a hero under the total drama fandom wikis? no. he wasnt.
that was the pathetic excuse of justification, or perhaps better worded as validation, that the hawaiian had told himself repeatedly in his head as he waited for the clock to strike four.
trent had always liked showing up exactly on time.
needless to say, in previous relationships and friendships, justin wasnt all the most caring. hed blow his companions off for varying amounts of time, before texting them with a selfie or a simple hello. maybe 'spoil' them with a freshly picked flower from his neighbors lawn. get his fair share of compliments and aid to his ever growing ego, and then ghost them the moment they had grown too attached.
it wasnt like that with trent. and for that, justin was thankful.
after justin had been booted from action, he didnt have many ties to the cast in the losers hotel. many of them had paired off in their own cliques or groups, leaving a few stand alones such as ezekiel, noah, eva, and surprisingly, trent.
with his antagonistic thirst not quite quenched, justin had partly viewed trent as a victim for whatever schemes he could manage to pull before everyone could go home.
it obviously didnt turn out that way.
he didnt want to damage someone who he had first spotted sobbing while attempting to play riptide on his guitar.
justin had a policy to never put his energy into places where it wouldnt be reciprocated. most people he would find to be annoying and clingy. others just weird and boring. usually people would hate him for his narcissism or for him just plainly being a bastard. so, if they didnt like him, he wouldnt like them.
but surprisingly, trent actually liked justin. and wasnt a clingy and annoying loser like anyone else who actually tolerated him.
trent was the only person there who genuinely liked him. so, he had decided to hold off on whatever bullshit he was going to pull.
so, when justin had actually learned of what exactly went down with trent, the whole obsessive thing, he did his best to help him. let him vent, all night and all day. listen to some music trent had written. and also, justin managed to help him out with the catastrophe of a wardrobe he had as well.
he was granted a place in the drama brothers band as a thanks, despite not knowing a single clue on how to play music or sing. it was wonderful there. cody and harold were great people under the fronts they had attempted to put up.
they weren't anything close to trent, though.
trent taught him that he wasnt just the person on the outside. he wasnt just his killer abs or his alluring bone structure. there was something underneath.
trent liked justin for justin.
and justin liked trent for trent.
trent was probably one of the first few people that justin had genuinely cared for. there were a few people at the old folks home that he viewed as parental figures, but that was about it. any 'partners' or 'friends' he would have were all for publicity, a cure for boredom, or just fuel to his ego.
not trent. if it was absolutely necessary, justin would run into a house fire to save him. and that's a lot coming from a guy who would do anything to keep his looks up to an overly perfect 100/10.
