A girl with platinum blonde hair and brightly coloured hearing aids glided through the school halls, a spring in her step. Not only were they starting Frankenstein in her English class, but she had also been on a 2 hour long video call to her girlfriend the night before.

A brown eyed boy ran towards the girl, startling her. "Sorry! Didn't mean to scare you, Azzy."

Azlan shook her head. "It's fine, Silas. What's up?"

"The sky", he replied sarcastically, ignoring the girl's eye roll. "You excited for English today?"

Azlan's face lit up. "Yeah! I love the monster in it! Frankenstein's awesome."

"Did you know that Frankenstein was the name of the monster's creator, not the monster itself?", asked Silas.

After a long pause, Azlan exhaled sharply. "Dude, if you put this level of smart a**ness into your work, you'd be top of your classes."

Silas chuckled. "Yeah, not gonna happen."

"Azzy!", exclaimed a blonde haired girl. She rushed over to Azlan, a grin on her face. "Hey, babe."

Azlan smiled when she saw the girl. She looped her arm with hers. The girl kissed her passionately and Azlan kissed back, smiling softly.

Silas mockingly placed a finger in his mouth. "I'm gonna barf."

They pulled away and the pair both rolled their eyes at Silas. The taller girl draped her arm around Azlan's shoulder. "Give it a rest, Silas. You love us really."

"Nah, just Azlan. You're not unbearable though", replied Silas, a smirk appearing on his face. The boy was closer to Azlan, seeing as they were both in the same robotics club. He knew Mary-Anne as Azlan's girlfriend and he was happy to keep it that way.

"I gotta go", said Mary-Anne. "I'll see you later, Azzy." She kissed the girl's cheek before running a hand through her hair and walking away.

Silas groaned. "This place will be the death of me", he muttered. He had lowered his voice considerably and looked at the ground, meaning that Azlan couldn't hear everything he said, or read his lips.

"What will be the death of you?", she questioned, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

Silas raised his hands to just above his chin and attempted to sign 'school.' Still getting to grips with sign language, Silas had signed it incorrectly, but not so badly that Azlan couldn't understand what he was trying to sign.

With a sweet smile on her face, Azlan raised her hands and showed him the correct way to sign school. "School", she said as she signed.

Silas nodded and the pair continued to walk to class.

After a tortuously, or pleasantly long day, depending on how you look at it, the school day had finished and the after school clubs crawled from out of the shadows.

A girl with a pale blue headscarf was the first to arrive, her smile turning into a curious expression when she saw her grinning teacher. "You seem happy, Professor Harrow. Did your Mum finally buy you a new TV?"
