After dinner, Elodie started to do the washing up. A smile appeared on her face when she saw Phillip.
"Thanks again for today, Sir."

Phillip shook his head.
"Don't mention it.
I heard you were planning on going to the upcoming poetry event soon."

Elodie nodded.
"Yeah.
I usually recite a piece but I'm really excited to hear Maya recite hers. We've been going to them for a long time but she's never offered to share her work."

"Maya Ahmed?", questioned Phillip. His eyes darted back in forth as he thought about all the complications that would arise if Elodie became friends with Maya again.

Elodie nodded.

"Forgive me for over stepping, but I was under the impression that she completely isolated herself from you when your father died."

Elodie's face fell.
"W-Well... yeah, that happened. But I've been really cold with her lately-"

"-With good reason.
From what you and your mother have told me, your father was an exceptional man.
And I have no doubt that Miss Ahmed knew that too."

Elodie opened her mouth to speak, but she hadn't thought of any words to say yet.

"So, if Miss Ahmed knew how much your father meant to you, why on Earth would she abandon you in your time of need?
There's absolutely no excuse for hurting you the way that she did."

"But-"

"-In fact, befriending her would do nothing but insult your father's memory."

Professor Harrow had brought the group back to the school, though Silas was particularly confused.
"Why are we in school?
Shouldn't we be at Everett's lab?"

"It's too risky.
We don't know what kind of security he has.
We don't know the building at all. Our main priority is making sure Katie is safe", explained Professor Harrow.

"How can we do that from here?", asked Silas.

"I added a unique microchip to Katie when we were creating her.
It's kind of like a tracker.
We can see if she's been damaged in any way", said Professor Harrow.

Lena smiled, clearly impressed.
"Nice one, Ben."

"So what do we do if she is damaged?", asked Bennett.

Professor Harrow frowned.
"There's not much we can do.
Not from here anyway.
I'd take my chances and go find her."

"You? Alone?", asked Azlan.

Professor Harrow nodded.
"I'm not going to put you guys in any more danger.
From now on, Katie is my responsibility."
