Chapter 14- Names and Faces

Silas joined Azlan, Quinn and Yukishiro on their walk to school. They were being their usual crazy selves, but Silas chose to embrace it this time.

Silas laughed. "... and then this massive dog kick-"

"-Mr. Hastings", said Mr. Everett. "May I have a word with you in my office? Now."

Silas gulped nervously. The others frowned, knowing that it can't be good news.
"Y-Yeah."

Yukishiro raised his hand.
"May the force be with you."

Azlan raised her hand too, holding up 3 fingers and humming the mockinjay call.

"I thought she'd be happier on our date", said Mary-Anne.
"She just looked so bored."

"Maybe she just had a lot on her mind?", questioned Elodie.

Mary-Anne shrugged.
"All I know is our next date has to be epic!"

"Maybe slow down a little. You don't have to go on dates every day", said Elodie.

"How else am I suppose to keep the romance alive?", asked Mary-Anne.

Elodie smiled sweetly.
"You really like her, don't you?"

"So much", she said, a grin appearing on her face. "Oh and don't think I haven't noticed that new dress you're wearing. Hoping to impress anyone?"

Elodie shook her head.
"Who would I want to impress?"

"You know every girl in this school fancies you, right?"

Elodie paused for a few seconds, contemplating her words.
"Not every girl."

Professor Harrow and Maya hurried down the corridor, carrying piles of papers.
"I really appreciate this, Maya. Are you sure I haven't given you too much?"

"It's just one pile of papers, Sir. I'm not even using my bad arm", said Maya. Maya forgot to look ahead and nearly collided with Mary-Anne.

"Woah!", said the blonde haired girl.

"Oh, sorry!", exclaimed Maya. Her eyes landed on Elodie. Maya's heart thumped in her chest as she looked at the girl.

Sure, Maya had always found Elodie pretty, but she was wearing makeup today, something which didn't happen often. The myriad of colours on her eyes seemed to only emphasise the light in her eyes.

"Isn't that right, Maya?", asked Professor Harrow.

Maya snapped out of it and turned to face Professor Harrow.
"Huh?"

"How's the arm?", asked Elodie.

Maya's mouth went dry as she tried to form a coherent sentence.
"I um, er, yes well, uh... I have to go!", she muttered, before running away.

Professor Harrow smiled awkwardly at the girls.
"Ha. Ha. Um, yes. Good day girls."

Elodie frowned as Professor Harrow hurried away.
"I guess Maya's back to her usual self."

Mary-Anne wrapped an arm around her.
"Forget her. You'll always have me."

Silas shifted uncomfortably in his chair as Mr. Everett stared at him. He'd never been called into his office, so he was sure it would be about the incident yesterday.

Out of the corner of his eye, Silas saw a file with his face on. Intrigued, he focused on it and saw that it had the faces of the AI Club on it.

"It has come to my attention that you were seen running with a girl across the courtyard a few days ago. You had pulled a hoodie over her head and carried her bridal style into the building", said Mr. Everett.

Silas felt his cheeks heat up. Oh yes. That. What possible explanation could he give for carrying a malfunctioning robot through a courtyard?

"YOU TOLD HIM WE'RE DATING?",  questioned Quinn.

Yes, this after school session would be full of questions.

"I panicked! I said we were just goofing around and you asked me to carry you bridle style to your next lesson", explained Silas.

Bennett guffawed.
"That's so f*cking funny! Someone get Silas a meddle for braving that beast."

Quinn glared at Bennett.
"Shut up."

"Guys let's not argue", said Professor Harrow.

"Tell One-eyed Bill over there to stop!", said Quinn.

"One-eyed Bill? They're getting worse", said Bennett.

"Like your sense of direction?"

"Guys!", exclaimed Silas.
"He had a file with our faces on. I saw it. There's probably about a hundred pages of stuff about us."

"What the heck?", said Yukishiro. "That's weird."

"D*mn. Even Highlighter thinks it's weird", said Bennett.

"I should've expected this. Did you see how calm he was when he came into our room yesterday? It's like he... it's like he planned the power outage. I'm sure he's behind what happened to Silas", said Professor Harrow.

"But why would he do that?", asked Maya.

"Maybe he's suspicious of us. Maybe he noticed something off about K375B. If this gets out he'd have a good reason to get rid of the AI Club", said Professor Harrow.

"So what do we do?", asked Azlan.

Professor Harrow paused for dramatic effect.
"Isn't it obvious?"

"Not really", said Silas.

"We need to break in and take those files."
