Chapter 30- Stages

The first stage Silas felt was denial.

"You've got it wrong. It can't be me!"

The second was confusion.

"I mean... how could it even be me? I'd know... wouldn't I?"

The next stage was sadness.

Tears formed in Silas' eyes.
"I'm... I'm part robot and no one told me before?"

And onto the current stage: anger.

Silas slammed his hands against the table.
"They lied to me!"

"Silas, you'll hurt yourself!", said Azlan.

"I don't care!
Maybe I don't even bruise like normal people!"

"Come on, dude. Just calm down", said Quinn.

"Don't tell me to calm down!", yelled Silas, his eyes turning a bloodshot red. "I know we don't always get on, but I never thought my Mum would keep something like this from me!"

"Maybe she didn't know?", suggested Yukishiro.

"Come on man, it's hardly unnoticeable if it happened in her womb!"

"Oi, leave him alone", said Bennett. "You've been lied to. It sucks.
But none of us have lied to you."

Silas nodded.
"I'm sorry, Yukishiro."

Yukishiro shook his head.
"It's ok", he said, before giving Bennett a thankful smile.

"Why don't you talk to her?", suggested Maya.
"My Mum was forced into it... maybe it was the same for your Mum?"

Silas nodded. He clenched his fists and turned around. Quinn rushed towards him, blocking his exit.
"What the héll?
Move!"

Quinn shook her head.
"You need to go in there level headed and calm. You'll only say something you'll regret if you go like this."

"Why do you care?"

Quinn frowned.
"If I had calmed down before talking to my parents, maybe they wouldn't have taken on any job they could find just to be out of the house."

Silas frowned.

Quinn lightly punched his arm. "Besides, I'd be a rubbish girlfriend if I didn't help you out."

Silas chuckled.
"Right.
Extra girlfriend points for you."

With Silas confronting his Mum, the others decided to take a much needed break from this whole mess- after all, Silas was seen as the leader.

Mo rushed into the house, a triumphant grin on his face.
"I got a milk carton before the shop closed!"

Maya laughed.
"A successful trip then?"
