Draco Malfoy
I couldn't believe he had the nerve to ask Kit to the dance.
He didn't even know her.
He wasn't worthy of someone like her, someone as powerful as her.
Besides she wasn't his to ask, she was mine.
Not that I had asked her.

I watched him fumble over his words and I was waiting for the moment when Kit would shut him down.
But she was going along with what he was saying and didn't seem to be pushing him away at all. I wasn't having it.
I pushed myself off of the tree and stormed over to them, quickly wrapping an arm around Kit's waist and holding her hip.
"What do you think you're doing Weasel?" I spat and I felt Kit tense up from beside me.
"That's none of your business Malfoy." He sneered back.
"It is when it involves Kit."
"Since when do you really care?" Kit whispered only really loud enough for me to hear.
I rolled my eyes and thought about why I was really fighting for her. I didn't have to. Yet I wanted to.
"She can't go to the dance with you Weasel so move on."
"And why can't she? That's her decision not yours." He shrugged and I clenched my first at my side.
"Because she's going with me."
"I'm not." Kit said quickly and I glared down at her.
"You've not asked me. In fact you've hardly been paying any attention to the hints I've dropped telling you I wanted to go with you." She said and I opened my mouth to defend myself but I had no argument.

Thinking about it, she was right.
She would drop hints, asking about what I was wearing so she could match but I just shrugged her off, not thinking she was serious.
I hadn't paid attention to her at all.
And now Weasley was here and had been thinking about her and the dance, which was more than I had done.
But I had more pressing things to sort out, my Fathers wishes and trying to get information out of a girl that knew nothing.
I didn't get why I had to be dragged into this mess. If Kit had never come here I wouldn't have to be stressing over a girl more than I cared to. And Kit was more than just a girl. She was a nightmare of a girl who got into trouble and wasn't easy to be around.
Yet here I was, fighting for her.

"So, choose then. Me or Weasley?" I asked.
"Only one of us has actually asked her." Weasley grinned.
"No one cares."
I'm between our 'arguing', Granger made her way over and I knew that she wasn't going to make anything any better. She never did.
As she reached the group she took a hold of one of Kit's hands and pulled her over to her.
"This is ridiculous. Both of you. Putting her in such an awful position in the middle of the courtyard in-front of everyone. Come on Kit." Granger said and began to walk away, her arm wrapped around Kit's shoulders.
I was waiting for Kit to turn and at least give me a small look to reassure me but it never came.
I was debating whether to go after her but I knew with Granger there she wouldn't listen to me.
But Granger couldn't even have an opinion.
She didn't know what had happened between Kit and I, and because I told Kit to keep it a secret I knew she would.
Girls were too much hard work.
That's why I was impartial to being with Pansy. She did whatever I said and whatever I wanted when I said so.
Kit wasn't like that. Not at all. She had her own mind and had a hell of a voice and definitely played hard to get.
But the part of me that wanted her was willing to play her game and I was up for the chase.
