Kit King
The war came sooner than everyone thought.
One day everything was calm, and the next, Harry had returned and was followed by an army.As soon as I saw them all walk into the hall I couldn't stop the grin from appearing on my face, especially as I caught Fred's eyes and he winked at me with his own smirk on his face.
As soon as I could I ran over to the group and was happily met with smiles.
"Harry, Ron, Hermione!" I said and hugged each of them in turn.
"Kit were going to need help." Harry said and I nodded quickly.
"Ok. What do you need?" I said and pushed my hair behind my shoulders.
"Horcruxes."
"I-I don't know any." I sighed.
"We need a crown. Or a tiara. Rowena Ravenclaws." He said and I shook my head.
"Room of requirement. If it's antique it'll be in there. Though I'm not sure." Draco said and sauntered over to us.
"You're helping?" Ron scoffed.
"You need my help." Draco retorted and I rolled my eyes.
"Don't start. A group of us can start looking in the room of requirement." I suggested.
"Ok. I'll try and find out more information." Harry said before we all dispersed.
Before I ran off, I went over to Fred and wrapped my arms around him quickly.
"It's good to see you." I whispered and I felt him run a hand through my hair.
"It's good to see you too. Be safe ok?"
"I will as long as you are." I grinned before letting him go.The room of requirement was massive.
I hadn't really noticed how massive it was until we were looking for something so tiny.
"You guys still look close." Draco said as we searched through an old looking chest of drawers.
I frowned and stood up straight.
In the back of my mind I knew he would bring it up.
"Don't start. Not now." I sighed. I turned to look at him and his jaw was clenched and his eyes focused on the floor.
"Draco nothing's going on between Fred and I. And nothing happened when I was there ok?" I sighed and he shook his head.
"It's just insecurities." He sighed and I nodded before taking hold of one of his cold hands in mine.
"Come here." I smiled and I pulled him into my arms.
I hugged him tight and felt him sigh against me.The times when he was vulnerable with me were times when I knew we were at our closest.
It showed me that he wasn't who he was pretending to be.
He was unsure of himself, and cared for people, he was smart and funny.
He was everything I could ever want."After all this is done, after we're free, let's run away together." I whispered.
"Ok."
"We'll go somewhere nice, the South of France perhaps, and get married. We'll have a home in the country, and a family of our own." I said and he kissed the side of my neck.
"That's all I could ever want." He whispered and I smiled before he kissed my lips quickly. In that moment I forgot about the war and the danger.
I forgot about looking for some tiara.
I forgot about when the time came to it, Draco would be taken from me."Have you guys found it?" Harry said running into the room.
"No. This place is massive if you hadn't realised." Draco said with a roll of his eyes.
"It's there." Harry said pointing to a large case on a separate pile after closing his eyes momentarily.
He began walking over and I looked to Hermione.
"He feels them." She sighed and I nodded.
When Harry took the crown out of its box I felt Draco's hand slip into mine, but I couldn't take my eyes off of it.
Something so small, so beautiful, yet held such evil.
"H-how many hace you found now?" I said quietly.
"Most. Only two more to destroy now." Hermione said and my heart started racing.
For I knew just as well as anyone what would have to happen by the end of the day.Though it was only really realised later that day, after I felt the worst pain I had ever felt in my life.
After leaving Dracos side as we entered the great hall, my heart sank at the destruction and devastation.
A hall that had once been so vibrant was brimming with death and pain.
But never before in my life had my heart raced as fast as it did when I noticed the group of redheads looking more than devastated.
With shaking legs I walked over, the world seeming as if it were going in slow motion.
I made eye contact with George who rushed over immediately, wrapped his arms around me and sobbed.
"He's gone Kit. He's gone." He cried and i immediately felt weak and faint.
"L-let me see him." I whispered and he held my shoulders.
"No. No don't see him this way."
"George please." I said, feeling the tears stream down my face and my throat dry.He stepped out of the way and I felt a sob rattle in my chest.
His face was so pale.
He was so still.
I bent down and caressed his face lightly before taking one of his hands in mine.
"Hey Freddie." I sniffled, and let more tears fall as I knew he wouldn't respond. "I'm sorry we never got to say goodbye. And I'm sorry that I never got to hug you one last time or see your smile. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you." I cried.
I had to stop as I felt the sob rattle even harder in me.
I bit my lip and bent down to kiss his cheek.
"I'll miss you and love you forever." I whispered before resting my forehead to his for a second.I stood back up and pulled my sleeves over my hands.
"Who did it?" I asked and looked at George.
"I-I don't know. He was tall with dark hair. Had green eyes."
"That could be anyone."
"No. His wand. I-it was strange. It almost looked as if it had a knot in it." George said and a cloud of red fogged over my eyes.
"Father."
