Saying goodbye to everyone for Christmas was harder than I thought it would be. Blaise was the worst one. We had grown close and he was the only one that was genuine with me. I was surprised when the Golden Trio came to say goodbye. While I had had a few herbology tutoring sessions with Hermione, and spoken to the boys a few times I didn't expect it. Yet it was nice to know that they thought of me. Hermione had even given me a Christmas card.

Walking to the common room after the first breakfast was hard. I kept turning to Blaise to talk to him then shaking my head remembering there was only myself and a younger girl that were left here from Slytherin.

After I was dressed I decided to go for a walk around the lake even though it was the coldest it had ever been. I pulled on my hat, scarf and gloves and headed out.
Hogwarts was eerie when everyone had gone. With no students, the lake and quidditch pitch were too silent. But it didn't bother me much. At least there were no first years running into me.
As I got to the black lake a flash of blonde almost made me turn round. But I remembered the night where we almost bonded in the common room and since then I had tried to be friendly to him.
"Malfoy?" I asked and he turned, wearing a long black coat and his Slytherin scarf.
"That's my name. Don't wear it out." He smirked and I rolled my eyes. "Do you eyes always do that or do you have some sort of problem?"
"You're my problem." I smirked and for once I saw him smile. "What are you doing here?"
"I-I Erm, Father. Father told me it would be good for me to stay. To focus." He said and I didn't believe him in the slightest but chose to move past it.
"I-"

I stopped mid sentence as I heard crying. I looked at Malfoy who, by the looks of it, didn't even hear.
"Did you hear someone crying?" I said and he rolled his eyes.
"Yes. But I don't care."
"Asshole."
I walked around a bit before the crying became louder. I looked behind a large tree and saw the little Slytherin girl sat on the floor her knees pulled to her chest.
I looked back towards Malfoy and ushered him over.
"I don't care." He mouthed but I glared at him enough so that he eventually came over.
As he stood by my side he rolled his eyes and cleared his throat.
"Oi." Malfoy said and I judged his side as the little girl stood up and backed away from us.
"Hey, it's ok. Why are you crying?" I asked and bent down on my knees.
"It's nothing. You two wouldn't care. You're like the King and Queen of Slytherin." She sniffled.
"Girl knows her superiors." Malfoy smirked and I punched his thigh, hard enough to make him stagger.
"Don't listen to him. We're not bad. Besides you're a Slytherin too. We look out for each other. No one else will." I sighed.
"I was just crying, b-because a boy in Gryffindor told me that my glasses and my braces make me look stupid and I don't belong at this school." She sniffled and I rubbed her upper arm.
"He's a Gryffindor. He doesn't matter." Malfoy said.
"He's popular." She sighed.
"What's your name?" He said, walking over, his hands shoved in his pockets.
"It's Delilah."
"Well Delilah, why don't you show us who he is."

Us three Slytherins walked through the castle after discarding our hats and coats and Delilah walked us to where a group of young Gryffindor boys were playing in the snow.
She pointed to a black haired boy and I watched as Malfoy smirked and bent down to the little girl, evidently showing her a spell she could use. He whispered the incantation in her ear and showed her what to do.
Delilah straightened up and said the incantation, and we watched on as the boy slowly began to levitate.
"Hey, thanks Malfoy." Delilah laughed and we both smiled before walking away.

I smiled to myself and bit my lip to try and hide it from him.
"What are you smirking at?" Malfoy snarled and I rolled my eyes as I could see he was back to normal.
"The way you helped her. It was just, very sweet of you." I shrugged and he turned to face me.
"You tell anyone about it and I will make sure that your parents find out about your little friendship with Potter." He growled before stomping away, leaving me stood in the middle of the corridor, my heart beating wildly.
I hated when he did that.
If he would only let people see the little bit of goodness he had in him then maybe people would actually start to like him.
Maybe things between us could be different.
