Part 37

Draco Malfoy
Walking around Diagon Alley used to bring me so much joy. But now it was run down and dark, thanks to us. It was heartbreaking.
The only shop up and running well, was the Weasley shop. Stupid idea that shop. Especially stupid because it was run by the Weasley twins. Why anyone would buy anything from them was beyond me.
Even walking past it made me sick.

As we walked up to the shop, Mum stopped in her tracks and her grip around my arm tightened. I looked at her and she had paled slightly and her eyes were wide.
"Draco look." She whispered and I followed her eye line to see what she was looking at.
As I realised what had made her stop my heart missed a beat and my hands started to sweat.
It was Kit.
She was stood outside of Weasleys shop, a black jacket wrapped tightly around her. Her hair was gently blowing in the gentle breeze, she looked beautiful.
Since the second I saw her tears started welling in my eyes and I knew I had to talk to her. I couldn't just walk past and not say anything.
"Go ahead. I'll catch up with you." I whispered and placed a quick kiss to Mums cheek before she walked on.

I sighed and walked towards Kit slowly, not wanting to surprise her. But I knew she had seen me. We locked eyes for a second and she turned to face the shop.
"Kit." I said and I noticed her hand started to shake as she turned back towards me. It hurt my heart to see tears well in her eyes and her hands shaking.
"Stay away from me." She said and I frowned.
"Kit I would never hurt you. You know that."
"I don't know what you're capable of anymore. Besides, you already hurt me." She said and I closed my eyes for a moment.
"I know. But we need to talk about that."
"I have absolutely nothing to say to you." She spat and I felt like I could just cry then and there.
"Katerina come and talk to me." I said and it came out more forceful than I had intended it to.
"No. You don't get to tell me what to do. Especially not after what you've done. What you are." She said and the tears fell from both of our eyes.
"Then just listen. Please just listen." I pleaded and she sighed before nodding her head slightly.
At least that was something.
I took a deep breath.
"Kit I'm sorry for what happened. But you have to understand, while it was fake to begin with, I learned to love you. I love you Kit. That's real. The love I have for you is real. That night we spent together at the Leaky Cauldron was real. Those feelings were so so real." I said and I couldn't stop the tears from falling, especially as I saw tears falling from her eyes also.
"I don't believe you."
"Kit I promise you. I promise with my life that I love you and everything I told you was real. Would I have bought you that necklace if I didn't love you? Would I take the risk to come and meet you at the Cauldron if I didn't love you? Would I sleep with you if I didn't love you?" I cried.
"I-I don't know."
"Please Kit. Just come back to me. I need you." I sighed but she shook her head.
"Draco I can't I-"

She was interrupted by one of the Weasley twins opening the door of the shop.
I sniffed back my tears and pushed a cold expression on my face.
I watched as he sneered at me and walked down the few steps to stand by Kit. Everything seemed to go in slow motion as I watched his arm go around her waist and he bent down to kiss her cheek.
I felt my lip quiver but bit it hard.
"What do you think you're doing Weasley?" I spat.
"Giving my girlfriend a kiss, Malfoy."
"What?"
"Fred and I are dating, Draco." Kit said wiping away her tears with her thumbs.
"Hey what's wrong?" Fred asked holding her face. "What did he do to you?"
"Nothing. Come on let's go inside." Kit said and started to push him towards the shop.
As she got to the door Kit turned to look at me.
We met eyes and kept eye contact for a few seconds before she disappeared behind the door, her hand in Fred's when I knew in my heart it should have been in mine.
