Part 30

Draco Malfoy
It had been two weeks since that night Kit and I shared at the Leaky Cauldron.
Two weeks since the best night of my life.
But now, the day had arrived.
The day when everything would change.
I didn't sleep for a week beforehand.
On the day, I kept Kit in my mind to bring some sort of calmness into me.
I got dressed with shaking hands in my room and didn't come out of my room until mother called me out.
She was waiting outside my room, a sad look in her eyes. I said nothing as she took me into her arms and tears built up in my eyes. I hugged her tight and my heart fell as I heard her sniffle a few times.
"I'm sorry you've been brought into this." She sighed and held onto my upper arms.
"It's ok Mum. I just want to keep you safe." I said and she smiled. "Mum, can I tell you something, without dad here?"
"Of course. Always." She said, looking concerned.
"You know Katerina King," I said and she nodded as I closed my eyes for a moment, "I-"
"You like her. I know. You talk about her in your sleep." She smiled and I frowned.
"Oh. I didn't know I spoke in my sleep. But, no mum, I love her. I love her and I know I shouldn't because you and dad-"
"Doesn't matter about me and your father. It's a stupid thing Draco. If you love her then I'm happy. Just, when she gets here, don't show it infront of people." Mum sighed and I nodded before we both headed down the stairs hand in hand.

People were already scattered around the open plan hall. My eyes wandered as I tried to look for Kit. I couldn't see her but my heart started racing at the thought that today I would lose her.
I couldn't lose her.
I didn't know what I would do without her.
I wouldn't cope.
She was everything to me now.
Everything.

"Kate. Gerard." I heard as mum and I were talking to a group of people, and immediately my ears pricked up. I felt hopeful that they hadn't brought her considering no one had said anything.
"And of course, Katerina."
Shit. She was here.
"Shall we go over?" Mum whispered and I nodded as dad came to join us. "Lucius, were saying hello to the Kings."
Father sneered and glared over to where they stood.
As I looked at Kit my heart sank.
She looked so beautiful in a short green dress and the necklace I bought her sitting around her neck.
I fiddled with the signet ring she had gotten me and tried to suppress the smile on my face as we locked eyes.
As we walked over to them, my knees felt shaky and my hands started to get sweaty.
"Well, if it isn't the Kings. And my my how much has little Katerina grown." Father said and I watched as Kit cringed as he called her little.
"Hello Lucius, Narcissa, Draco." Kate said, evidently not happy to be in our presence.
I wracked my brain to try and find something to say but every time Kit and I met Eyes I felt a lump in my throat and tears spring to my eyes.
"Hi Kit." I said, letting it slip out and she widened her eyes at me.
"What did you call her?" Gerard said, but I couldn't bring myself to care.
"Kit."
"Hi." She said and a smile appeared on her face.

I watched as both of our fathers opened their mouths to say something, but luckily Mum interjected.
"I-it's good of you to be here on Draco's day." She said but my stomach fell.
"Yes well, at least one of them has the balls to do it." Gerard said and looked towards Kit who was staring at me.
"What are you talking about?" She said barely above a whisper, her eyes looking tearful.
"Draco joins our ranks today, becomes a death eater." Father said and I watched as she blinked several times before a tear slipped from her eyes.
"That's not true."
"It is. Isn't it Draco?" Father smirked, knowing exactly what he was doing.
"It is true." I said and Kit shook her head.
"You knew. And you didn't tell me?"
"Kit you have to understand-"
"That's not the only thing hes not told you." Father said but all I could do was look at Kit. "We set Draco a little task this year."
"What are you talking about Lucius? What have you done to our daughter?!" Gerard yelled aiming his anger at me.
"See, we told Draco to get close to Katerina this year in hopes that she would spill information about your plans and whereabouts."
"No. No that's a lie." Kit said, her cheeks turning pink.
"What? You thought he would really love you? A Malfoy would never love a King. He faked it. All of it."
"Lucius," Mum warmed but it was too late.
"You're sick. All of you." Kate spat.

Mum and I focused on Kit who was surprisingly quiet. But I watched as tears streamed down her face and her nose and cheeks turned pink
"Y-you faked it? All of it? Even that night two weeks ago? That was all fake?" She cried and her parents turned to her.
"You went to him after-"
"After you attacked me. Yes. And we slept together. Because I loved him. I loved you Draco. I opened up to you! I made myself so fucking vulnerable infront of you! You told me you loved me and you needed me!And it was all fake?! Those nights I held you when you had a nightmare? The times when you would hold my hand under the table? That was fake? You're sick. All of you. None of you ever cared for me or cared about how I was feeling. Ever. Enjoy being a murderer. Enjoy knowing that you broke me."

We all watched as she cast a spell at the windows, causing every window on one side of the house to smash.
"Katerina!" Kate said.
"Katerina, come here." Gerard said and with a shaking hand I watched as Kit walked back over to us, her teeth gritted, her wand shaking in her hand.
"How dare you ruin my home!"
"Oh I wouldn't annoy her further Lucius. Her temper causes her to be quite temperamental." Gerard grinned.
"I'm not temperamental! I'm leaving." Kit growled.
"Katerina you're staying. Because you'll enjoy it."
"Enjoy what?" Mum piped up, also looking scared.
"She'll enjoy watching him get the mark."
