Draco Malfoy
People all around could see that Kit was broken.
She barely spoke to anyone except me when we were trying to fix the cabinet.
Even then she would avoid talking to me.
I could tell that loosing Fred had hit her harder than I thought it would.
Then again she hadn't just lost Fred. She lost the whole Weasley family if they think the same as Ron and Fred did.
I knew that wouldn't have been easy after she grew so close to them over summer.
She was struggling.

We still hadn't gotten to talk about what happened. But I was hoping that she would meet me in the room of requirement.
I had made her think that we were just working.
But I had sneaked some food from the hall and had a small bottle of fire whiskey in hopes that it would be more of a date.
I had wanted Kit to be my girlfriend again since the minute she ended it.
She was still beautiful and I still loved her.
And I know she could learn to love me again.

At eleven, I made my way down to the room.
The castle was always eerie at this time of night.
But as soon as I got into the room it was nice and calming.
I sat on the small sofa next to the cabinet and waited.
All I could do was hope that she turned up, but there wasn't much hope in me.
That was until I heard a small yawn coming from the entrance.
Kit tiredly walked around to me and when she saw what I had done her eyes trailed from the floor up to me.
"What's this?"
"I thought we could talk. About everything." I said and I watched as she sighed.
"I-I don't know if I can."
"I think it needs to be said now Kit. Please? For the sake of both of us?" I asked and took a hold of one of her hands.
She sighed again but sat down next to me.
"Ok. Where do we start?"
"Ask me anything you want."
"Erm. D-did it hurt? Getting the mark." She asked and I pulled up my left sleeve to show her the god forsaken mark.
"It killed. It feels like torture on your whole body, as if someone has set you on fire." I admitted and she nodded.
"I used to have nightmares about it all the time." She said and traced the mark with her fingertips.
"Why?" I said and furrowed my eyebrows.
"I was so worried about you." She sighed and my heart swelled.
"You were?"
"Of course I was. You're a death eater Draco. And I'm guessing this work on the cabinet is for him." She said and I knew I didn't want to lie to her.
"It is."
"What for?"
"Kit, if I tell you, you have to swear to me you will not repeat it. To anyone. And there's nothing you can do to stop it. If this task isn't complete, he'll kill me and my family." I said sternly and she nodded with wide eyes.

I told her everything about the cabinet, and the plan to bring in the death eaters and how I had to kill Dumbledore.
Even just talking about it to her made me feel sick. Especially as she gradually got more and more pale and her eyes got wider and wider.
I also knew that because I had told her what would happen, she would get herself involved.
She couldn't get in the way.
I couldn't protect her if she did.

"Please promise me you won't get involved and you won't get in their way." I asked and she just stared at me.
"But-"
"No Kit. It has to be done." I said and she nodded.
"Fine. Are my parents involved?"
"Yes. They're the ones coming into the school through the cabinet." I said and she seemed to grimace.
"Great. Honestly can my parents get any worse?"
"They miss you Kit. They ask about you all the time." I sighed.
"Hm"
"Kit we need to talk about us." I said and she met my eyes.
"What about us? There is no us." She said and I rolled my eyes.
"I love you Kit and I have done since the ball last year. I truly fell for you. Yes it was a trick to begin with but I really did like you. I love how fiery you are and how clever you are and how beautiful you are. I love the way you can hold your own and don't let anyone mess you around. I loved the way you would stroke my hair as we held each other in bed. I loved all of it. Truly I did. I promise." I said, pouring my heart out to her.
She stared at me and I saw a small smile appear on her face. She said nothing for a few moments before placing a small kiss to my cheek.
"That's sweet." She sighed.
"I'm not sweet. It's just how I feel." I said and she laughed lightly.
"I loved you Draco. I really did. I didn't care what anyone else said."
"So, we can be together."
"No."

I frowned and sat up a bit straighter in my seat.
She was fiddling with the ring on her finger but I noticed that she was still wearing the necklace I had bought her. I grinned knowing she wore it even with Fred.
I took hold of one of her hands and intertwined my fingers with hers.
"Why can't we?" I asked barely above a whisper.
"Because Fred and I only broke up a few weeks ago. I need time Draco."
I kissed the back of her hand and grinned at her.
"I'll wait for you."
