Part 23

Draco and I had been pretty much inseparable after that evening we spent together. It brought us closer together than we ever had been. Not that he had asked me to be his girlfriend.
The year was quickly coming to an end and I was worried that I wouldn't get to see him. Though I was sure we would see each other at functions but of course we would have to act as if we were mortal enemies infront of our parents, and I already knew that that would be near to impossible.

"Do you think he doesn't want me to be his girlfriend?" I said to Hermione as we walked to Hogsmead, Ron and Harry trailing behind.
"Honestly Kit will you stop worrying about Malfoy?" Ron piped up.
"No. Some of us have never had a boyfriend and some of us might like one." I scoffed.
"But it's Malfoy."
"He's not that bad. Anyways, I just don't think he wants me." I sighed.
"Katerina!" I heard from behind the group.
All of us spun and I saw Draco stood leaning up against a tree.
"I'll see you guys later." I smiled and waved before walking to Draco.

As soon as I got close to him my heart started to beat faster. I smiled as I got to him but he stayed leaned up against the tree giving me a blank stare.
"I really hate that you hang out with them." He sighed.
"I don't hang out with them. But I couldn't find you and they're the only ones who'll talk to me." I scoffed. "Where were you?"
"Nowhere."
"Where are the others?"
"I, er, wanted us to be alone today." He said and I felt my knees start to shake.
All I could do was nod.
We were often alone together in study periods and in the library but not by arrangement. But now he was arranging for us to be alone which only made me nervous. Especially as he seemed extremely grumpy as of yet.

He didn't take my hand as we walked and immediately I knew I had done something wrong. After the ball he had always held my hand in public, even if he was in a bad mood. Evidently today was different.
He walked a few paces infront of me and I struggled to keep up.
"Draco this is the way back to the castle!" I said as he walked quickly.
"I know."
I rolled my eyes but continued to power walk in order to keep up with him. He definitely was not in a good mood.

As we got to the Slytherin common room, he walked straight in, leaving the door to fall on me.
"Draco will you just slow down!" I yelled getting frustrated at him. But still he didn't stop. He just started straight up the stairs.
I stomped after him, growling as he went faster and faster up the steps.
"Draco Malfoy will you just-"
I walked into the prefects dorm and saw that it was not how I had seen it a few months prior.
Now, there was a blanket in the middle of the room, decorated with food.
I frowned and looked over at him.
"What's this?"
"This is Blaise's idea." He said and I smiled.
Of course Draco wouldn't have done this on his own.
"And why was the idea necessary?" I said, folding my arms over my chest.
"Well, I wanted to ask you, if you would be my girlfriend." He said slowly, still not looking at me.

I blinked a few timed before frowning again. I shook my head and walked over to him, cupping one side of his face I moved his head so he was looking at me for the first time that day.
"Excuse me?" I said and he took my hand in his.
"I'm not good at this ok?" He scoffed and walked away from me.
I was in shock.
He'd just asked me to be his girlfriend.
It was the moment I had waited months for.
Yet he wouldn't look at me, and it wasn't half as with love as I thought it would be.
"Well this is more uncomfortable than I was hoping it would be." I sighed and he voluntarily looked up at me.
"What are you talking about King? I'm trying my best." He said and I scoffed.
"You're not looking at me, you've just come out saying you wanted to ask me to be your girlfriend yet you're not happy. How am I supposed to feel Draco?" I said.
He sighed several times before coming over and taking both of my hands in his.
We both stayed a moment searching each other's eyes before I leaned up and pressed a quick kiss to his lips, but keeping a straight face.
"I was afraid you would say no." He admitted, looking down at the floor.
I gasped over dramatically and smirked.
"Draco Malfoy? Shy? Over me?" I said, putting my hand over my heart.
"No. Of course not. I just know what you're like King." He scoffed, regaining his cold expression.
I raised an eyebrow before turning away from him.

I smirked as he took hold of my hand and pulled me back to him, my eyes immediately went to his.
"Katerina, don't-"
"Ask me already." I giggled.
"Ask you what?"
"Fine. You won't ask me then I'll ask you because I'm tired of waiting. Draco Malfoy will you be-"
"Ok ok! Katerina King, will you be my girlfriend?" He asked and I pushed down my smile and instead looked at him blankly.
"No."
"Kit, seriously. I just-"
I pressed my lips to his and ran my hands through his hair before pulling back with a great smile.
"I'm joking, of course I will."
