Kit King
I thought I would be happy to be back at Hogwarts again. But I wasn't. I had no one here anymore. Ron hated me and I couldn't sit with Draco and our old friends anymore.
Fred and I sent letters to each other as often as we could, and he would always send me little packages full of new products they were trying which always made me laugh.
Hermione still helped me with my classes and she was still kind to me but at the end of it all I knew she would side with Ron.
The Slytherin gang would always talk to me when Draco wasn't around and I explained to them what had happened between us. Blaise agreed that I had every right to be upset and that I should do what makes me happy, but the others just felt sorry for Draco and what he went through and agreed that I shouldn't be dating Fred.
But what I had noticed was that Draco was keeping himself distance from, not only me, but everyone else as well. He was up to something. I knew it. Every time I saw him he looked pale and tired and we were only a month into the school year.
I would find out what he was doing.
Eventually.

"So, I think we're on the different potions. I know Slughorn wants us to make amo-"
"Kit I need to ask you something." Hermione said as we sat together in the library.
"Oh. Ok go ahead..."
"Kit, Ron's really bothered about you and Fred." She said and I rolled my eyes and put my head on the desk.
"For. Merlin's. Sake." I said hitting my head down with each word.
"I guess what I'm trying to ask is if you truly like Fred." She asked and I picked my head up off the table.
"Yes! Yes I do like him. I promise you Hermione I do. He actually makes me very happy and I need that at the moment. He's so sweet and lovely and of course I like him." I said and she nodded.
"Promise?"
"I swear to you."
"But you still have love for Malfoy?" She said and my breath hitched in my throat.
"Erm."
"Oh my god you do, don't you?"
"Yes. I do. My feelings aren't just going to turn off for him Hermione. But it doesn't mean I like Fred any less." I sighed and she nodded. "I just wish Ron could see I'm not a bad person."
"I know. And I don't know how you can. He's just got a wall of red over his eyes at the moment Kit. But he'll come around eventually." She said and gave my hand a squeeze.
"Thanks."
"Speaking of Draco though, doesn't he seem a bit odd? You know, he's never around, always looking pale and sick. Is he up to something?" Hermione asked.
"I don't know. But I can find out?" I asked. "But Hermione I don't want him hurt. Or interrogated."
"I can't promise that Kit."
"Then I can't tell you anything. I'm not being the reason he gets hurt." I sighed and started to shove my books into my bag.
"Kit this is about the safety of the wizarding world. If you know anything you should do the right thing and tell Harry." She said as I stood up.
"You all expect a lot of me. Yet have any of you thought at how much danger I'm actually in?"

Hermione looked at me with wide eyes and I shook my head as Harry came to stand next to our table.
He looked between us a confused look on his face.
"No. We don't know how much danger you're in because you never tell us anything." Harry said and I flicked my eyes to him.
"I've outwardly said that I do not follow you know who. I'm resented by the death eaters even my own parents. They're already out for my head on a plate. The only reason I've not already been killed is because my parents kept me safe by being loyal to him. But even they're against me now. Do you realise that if I help you there's no doubt I'll be killed the moment a death eater sees me?" I explained and Harry awkwardly placed a hand on my shoulder.
"We can protect you."
I looked between the two Gryffindors.
"Do you promise?"
"We promise."
