the power of quarantine (Prologue)

These compositions are made during quarantine, my innocent mind filled with curiosity, ignorance and sudden inspiration. I must say that I'm proud of what I made in these faithless times. This album is entitled 'the power of quarantine' (stylized in all lowercase), not just because I have composed and written these works in the middle of suffering in quarantine but because of deep thoughts and realization. That wealth, status, luxurious cars and blings doesn't really matter. Unless you use those riches for the greater good, by helping other people in need.

I must say, I'm extremely bored that's why I spent most of my time writing. But after writing these 14 poems and 1 short story, I realized that behind of all the struggles that COVID-19 has brought us, it's up to us if we will let it consume our happiness. It feeds on joy, optimism, and positivity and turned it to calamity, fright, negativity. These poems are told from different perspectives and point of views, personal experiences or imaginations flying through my head. Stories told from the visions of a problematic married couple, an isolated student, a feminist and a human rights activist, a troubled adolescent, a hopeless dreamer, a dying teenager and a maturing youngster.

The power of quarantine has changed me, invisibly, internally, and viciously. Stabbing every version of myself, using an array of weapons. Shooting the version who dwells so much in imaginations. Hanging the version who's afraid of the past. Torturing the version who's afraid of telling the truth. And lastly, killing the version who's being consumed by the seven deadly sins.

It's time to embrace the light and leave behind the haunted soul of the past. It's time to read the torn chapters of the life of a mentally ill child.

Because through the deep thoughts, confusion and pathetic depression, poetry is where I keep on holding on. For you words are just a group of letters, but for me, writing my feelings and insights keeps my sanity alive, these poems keeps me alive, for me, that's how I'm still alive.
