One ticket to the ladybug express
Downtown to memory lane where it all began
The nostalgic feeling and sepia visions
In the playground where our love was profound and then later became our battleground.

Your freckles and my bucked teeth
Defined our childhood with sweet tooth memories.

Childhood was long but our chapter was short
Because every intimate feeling lasts like a second
And every bitter moment lasts like an eternity.

We met in summer, I'm in my red and black spotted one piece with fairy toes
Making sandcastles, eating sandwiches, separating the pickles and tomatoes
We fall in love in spring, it's where our feelings grew like the tulips in my mother's olive garden
You're nine and I'm seven, but love is so strong that we decided to make leaf rings and a nature inspired wedding
We dressed up in fall, I'm the ladybug and you're a cat, Halloween was so special to us all
Well that says it all, I'm your lady your my buddy, carving pumpkins in the playground instead of going to the Thanksgiving Ball
We separated in Winter, you flew to England for the Christmas celebration and I was left in Pennsylvania all alone
Crying under the mistletoe, staring sadly as the Christmas tree lights glow.

We never seen each other since, I spent summer, spring, fall and winter all by myself
But this autumn, they said you're coming back home
I spent 7 years waiting for you to come back to my arms and commit to our pinky promise that is to never leave each other alone
I wear a much bigger ladybug costume, so you could remember me after all these years
I came to your Halloween party even though I was not in the list
I was looking through the crowd and saw your blonde hair and blue eyes in your Scottish Fold cat costume
But you're with another girl in a cute puppy outfit
Her hands were all over you while your eyes at me.

You called my name, good thing you still remembered, but the bad thing was all their stares at me
The A-listers, quarterbacks and sexy cheerleaders
Laughing at a nerdy ladybug like me
I ran through the crowd, outside your house to avoid the humiliation that a simple word has done.

But all was at the past, the rest was history and there was no bad blood between us
We met again in front of the school, the Halloween ball was so special to us all
We're both sending our children to the hall, mine was dressed up as a ladybug and yours as a cat
Your son and my daughter's smile pushed me through a rabbit hole of memories
You're happy with your family, and I'm being the best wife to my husband left at home.
We just smiled at each other and walked different directions, like the route where the ladybug express take us home.
