Harriette POV

At lunch I stayed in the classroom to get my food from Shelby. She always kept hold of it because there would be kids that took it from me.

"You alright, sweetie?" Shelby sat next to me.

"Shelby if I tell you something, can you keep it a secret?" I looked at her.

"Well it depends on what it is." She sighed.

"Lexi told me that Damien is my mate. But he's also the werewolf king and is looking for me. Shelby he's my mate and wants me dead." I started crying.

"Hey, hey. It's ok, it'll be alright. Why don't we talk to your dad about it tonight?" She hugged me. I nodded then pulled away so I could eat. Shelby has learned to eat human food so she can fit in when she's at school. I only eat human food because of my wolf side, I can't survive on only blood.

Fifteen minutes later, a knock sounded on the door. Shelby called the person in, Damien and Ryker walked in.

"Mrs cooper, please can we talk? It's important." Damien spoke.

"Of course." Shelby replied.

"In private." Ryker stated while looking at me. I nodded then went outside and around the corner. I listened in to what was going on, oh the joys of being a hybrid.

"Who else here is a vampire?" I heard Ryker's deep voice question Shelby. The only mother figure I've had, if shit goes down then Lexi will come out. I can't risk having winter out.

"It's just me. My husband comes here a lot so you may have got his scent." Shelby said in a bored tone.

"What about a werewolf. We got a scent of that so who is it?" Toby, one of the warriors voice spoke up.

"I don't know. The only wolves in this school is you five. We no longer have to fight, so I suggest you all back off. Not only for all of our sakes and because right now I am your teacher. I expect respect wether you be a king or not. This is human territory so you act like it." She spat out.

Just then I heard a thud against a wall. "Don't you ever disrespect me. We may not be at war anymore because of what your kind did, but I am still a king. You don't get to disrespect me." Damien's voice was dark and held a lot of power.

As I ran into the classroom, i saw Derek holding Damien up on the wall by his throat. Even though he's my mate and I should feel the need to protect him, I didn't. I didn't feel the need to protect him from Derek because the need to protect Derek and Shelby over took the one for Damien.

"Derek let go of him." I called out, making sure Lexi used enough power to get him to let go. But not enough to let it show I'm the hybrid they were looking for.

Derek had his fangs on show, warning Damien and the others not to touch what's his. Just like male werewolves, male vampires get really protective over their ones. Especially if another male is touching them, or even look in their direction.

"Let's go Harriette." Derek walked over to me and took my arm.

"What are you doing?" I asked him.

"You're leaving. Your dad said your aunt Lyla is sick and wants to see you before she goes. You are going to go to Spain for a while." He told me.

I nodded then grabbed my bag and started to walk out with Derek.

"Harriette, do you know what these people are?" Damien stopped me.

"They're vampires, I know. But I know they won't hurt me." I smiled at him.

"Will you be back from Spain?" He questioned. "At all?"

"I don't know, Damien. Me and my dad only stay in one place for a couple of years. We have a large family all over the world that we visit a lot." I sighed. I could feel the stinging in my eyes knowing I had to leave my mate, but could I do it.

Just then, he cupped my cheeks and crashed his lips on to mine. Our lips moved in sync as if they were made for each other. Oh wait, they were. I'm so stupid.

"I'm sorry, I just had to do that." Damien looked at me in the eyes. Our close proximity was dangerous, I could feel both winter and Lexi wanting to come out because he's our mate and one. But we'd be killed if he knew.

"It's ok." I told him. "I understand." I whispered to myself then left with Derek. When we got to the woods, I got on his back to make it look like I was human to the wolves.

I quickly looked up at the window to see Damien. He was watching me and then he was replaced by trees zooming by. Even if I never saw Damien again, I now can say I've met and kissed my mate.

To others it may not be a lot but it's enough for me. Especially since he took my first kiss. The sparks were magical and it made me feel content.

When we got to the cottage, me and my dad packed all our stuff. And just like that, we were on a plane to Spain.
