Thirty-three

Harriette POV

"Hey, Ryker said we've got visitors coming today. He said he needs you to be here as well." Dustin told me.

"Um, ok. Who and what time?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"I don't know, he didn't give me a name only a time. Which is 10:30." He shrugged.

"That's in five minutes." I gasped and ran to my room. I quickly got out of my pyjamas, slipping on dark grey leggings and one of Damien's old T-shirts. Yes I may or may not have taken one the other day when I was there.

After I was dressed, I put on socks, of course fluffy so I can skid around. I'm so childish. Anyway, after that I brushed my hair and put it up in a pony tail then went back downstairs to dustin.

When I got there, there was a knock at the door. Four scents of wolves came to me. Dustin went to the door and welcomed the people in. In came two men and two women. The women, Luna and beta female while the men were alpha and beta. Or former ranks anyway but the power radiated from them.

Dustin must have got their scents as well since he bowed his head.

"Bow you creature." The beta female glared at me.

"You are not of my pack nor my family. I bow to no one other than the lens of my kind. And you, beta female are not of my kind." I glared back.

"That's enough Elizabeth." The alpha scolded her. "I'm alpha Carlo. This is my mate Harlow, my beta Jenson and his mate Elizabeth."

"Harriette. This is my friend Dustin. And I assume you know Ryker is his mate." I gave him a small nod of acknowledgment.

"Yes. We have come to talk to you about you being the hybrid, as well as the betas son." Carlo stated.

"He's napping at the moment. He had a rough night with Ryker being gone all night. You are welcome to wait until he wakes up." Dustin told them.

"Yes, that would be fine." Harlow smiled sweetly then sat down.

"Is Damien here?" Harlow asked. "He said about this cabin and coming here. He's been gone since yesterday morning."

"He's not here. I could link Ryker to see if he knows where he is." Dustin replied.

"No it's ok. Damien can look after himself and he'll come home soon." She sighed sadly.

After that, we all went into silence and sat down in the living room. The beta and beta female kept on glaring at me and Dustin with disgust in their eyes.

"Anyone for drinks?" Dustin broke the silence.

"No thanks." Jenson and Elizabeth spat out.

"Yes please. What do you have?" The alpha and Luna smiled gratefully at him.

"Ryker has an obsession with Dr Pepper so we have that. Or there's a hot drink since Damien likes tea when he is here. Same with Tom, Toby and Jeremy." He stated.

"I'll take a Dr Pepper please." Harlow smiled.

"I'll have a tea. Thank you." Carlo replied.

"How do you like it?" Dustin asked.

"Milk and three sugars please."

Dustin nodded then went into the kitchen. I heard the kettle boil due to the awkward silence. The clatter of the spoon on her mug and the fridge being opened and closed.

Five minutes later, Dustin came back in and gave the can and mug to the couple.

"What's it like living with Ryker? I'm sure he keeps you awake most of the night." Carlo chuckled.

"Yeah, he's got a lot of energy. One thing our son got from him." Dustin smiled awkwardly.

"Ugh, I can't believe he mated with that." I heard Elizabeth mumble to her mate.

"Get over yourself." I snapped at her.

"Excuse me." She scoffed.

"I may be part wolf but you are nothing more than another one. Talk about my friend like that again and I won't hesitate to sink my fangs into your neck. Wether you be of royal blood or not." I shot at her.

Before she could answer, the door opened. Ryker, Tom, Jeremy and Toby's scent filled the room.

"Hey baby." Ryker smiled and pecked Dustin's lips ignoring the fact that his parents were glaring at them. A low growl erupted from me warning them to back off.

"Hey. How come your back so early? I thought you were seeing Shelby and Derek." Dustin said.

"Hmm, I did. But then I remembered we got people coming to see Alec and wanted to be here." He shrugged. "Where is he anyway?"

"For a nap. While you were gone most of the night he was awake wanting you." Dustin rolled his eyes.

"Nothing stopped you from linking me. They would have understood if I left early." Ryker stated.

"Dada." I heard Alec start to cry.

"I'll get him." Dustin announced then walked off. The boys sat down around me, squishing me between Jeremy and Toby.

"Do you have to?" I giggled.

"Yes. Yes we do. We've missed you our blood sucking wolf." They all smirked.

"Wow. Great name." I said sarcastically.

Before they could say anything else, Dustin came down with Alec on his hip with his head on his shoulder.

"Dada." Alec smiled behind his dummy and made grabby hands at Ryker. He stood up and took his son from his mate.

Ryker smiled and bounced his son on his lap. Then he kissed his cheek and set him on the floor to play with his toys.

"Ok, let's talk now." Carlo announced.

"About what?" I asked bluntly.

"How this boy will grow up. What will you do when his thirst gets the best of him? And when his hunting instincts kick in." Harlow explained.

"With hunting Ryker is going to deal with that with Damien and the boys. They have already agreed to help him. And with the thirst me and a couple friends will him with that. And as Harriette is the first hybrid, she will be able to tell him things. That to expect and how to be in control around humans." Dustin told them.

"Ok. So how come he hasn't got a thirst yet?" Carlo frowned.

"Because his wolf is the most dominant one at this age. But as he gets older and more mature, that's when the thirst will kick in and he will stop growing. Just like any other vampire and any other wolf." I said.

"So how come the council said that you can take down a whole village or pack? To me you seem like a nice girl if you have the right people around." Carlo stated.

"Hybrids are nothing but abominations. Both should be killed right now. That girl will be nothing but trouble for us." Jenson growled.

All of a sudden, Jenson and Elizabeth lunged at Alec.
