Twelve

Damien POV

It was the day we all go to the lake. It was still early so I chose to go to Harriette's house before we go. Just some mate time without anyone around. Hopefully she doesn't mind me just coming by.

'Hey baby, I'm going to stop by for a bit before we go to the lake. That way I can take you there as well.' I messaged her.

'That's fine. Come whenever you're ready.' Was her reply. I smiled then left.

Once I got to the cottage, I shifted into my human form and got dressed. When I was ready, I went to the door. Derek had answered and let me in. I thanked him and went straight to Harriette's room.

When I opened the door, I saw her fast asleep. I didn't want to wake her so I just laid down next to her. She must have felt me because she snuggled into my side and hummed happily.

"Sorry. I didn't think you'd be coming this soon otherwise I would have stayed awake." Harriette mumbled.

"It's ok, Lobito. If you want more sleep before we go, you can." I moved to my side and hugged her close to me.

I kissed her head and I felt a peck on my chest through my T-shirt. We both laughed a little then went silent again. Not long after, I heard my gorgeous mates breathing go level and relax in my arms.

A smile formed on my face as I watched her sleep. Nothing could beat this right here. I would rather be in bed with my mate cuddling than do anything else in the world. Never in my 150 years of living have I felt something as good as this.

My eyes couldn't seem to leave Harriette's face. She's just so damn perfect with her light brown hair and hazel eyes, pink plump lips and cute button nose. She's everything I could ever ask for in a mate. If I could have her as a werewolf I would, but I don't care if she's not.

Just having this girl in my arms is more than enough for me. I know Harriette isn't ready for anything else. Shes not ready for sexual stuff yet and I know because she gets uncomfortable talking about it. To be honest I'm no saint and have lost my virginity but I'd rather not do anything like that.

Well I would, but no way in hell am I rushing Harriette into anything. If she isn't ready, then I'll wait for as long as she needs. Wether it be in a week, a month or a year. I'd gladly wait for her. Even if she's twenty something then I'll wait for her so she will feel more comfortable.

I wish we could have eternity together but we can't. I'll stay young forever and be king but Harriette won't. Eventually she will get old and pass on. Maybe we'll be able to have pups by that time so I'll be able to have something from her. So when she does pass I'll be reminded every day of my beautiful mate.

My heart gets heavy thinking about it really. One day I won't have Harriette anymore. One day she'll be gone and I won't have my mate with me. Usually wolves get with unmated or rejected she wolves after that. But me, I will stay single when Harri dies.

Tobias won't let me anyway and I don't think I would be able to. If I were to die before Harriette then I wouldn't really want her moving on from me, but I know she will have to get over that and find someone new.

I didn't realise how long it had been until Harriette woke up. She smiled up at me but kept her cheek on my chest.

"Hey, how'd you sleep?" I leaned down and pecked her lips before she could answer.

"Hmm, best sleep I've had in a long time." She smiled with her voice full of sleep. It turned me on but now was not the time.

"I want more." Harriette pouted and stretched.

I pulled her so she was curled up to me. My arms engulfed her so she felt more protected. She snuggled her nose into my T-shirt and inhaled deeply. A chuckle escaped my lips when I felt her relax into me. Before I knew it, Harriette was fast asleep again.

A knock came from her door then someone came in. Aiden, Harriette's dad stood there looking from me to his daughter. A sly smile formed on my face as he had a bit of anger in his eyes.

"Derek said you were here." Aiden stated.

"Yeah. Me, Harriette and the boys are all going to a lake in my territory for a swim. I wanted to spend some time with Harriette before we do anything with the others." I told him.

"Ok. Just no funny business until she's ready." He sighed. "I can't be dealing with a horny teenager in the house. It's bad enough with Derek and Shelby."

"Of course. Until Harriette says, I won't touch her like that at all. It's all in her time and I can live with that." I smiled at him. "Even if she gets to ninety years old."

"I'm guessing she told you she's human." Aiden said.

"What do you mean?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Harri is part wolf. Her mum was a wolf but died while giving birth to her. She can shift and has everything that a wolf has. I don't know why she didn't tell you if you're like here." He frowned to.

"Whatever it was, I'll get her to tell me." I sighed. Why would she keep something like this from me. Just then I could smell the scent of wolf fill my nose. It came from Harriette making it official she is a wolf.
