Harriette POV

It was now night and everyone had gone home. I was sat at the edge of the lake with my feet in the water just thinking about everything and nothing. You know when you have thoughts racing but you never actually think of anything.

All that was on my mind was Damien. Through the mate bond I could feel his guilt and pain. It was at least 1am and everyone was asleep in the cottage, and through the mate bond I knew Damien was as well.

I got up, dried my feet then put my shoes and socks on. Then I masked my scent and used my vampire speed straight to my mates territory. No one saw me or got my scent which was good and I headed for the pack house.

I took a deep breath to find Damien's room. It didn't take me long and thankfully he had his window open. Once I jumped, in got inside and was quiet. Can't have him waking up can I? That would be bad.

He laid there sleeping, his covers up to his mouth, just underneath his nose. A smile formed as I watched him sleep. Instead of standing there, I took my shoes off and carefully pulled the covers back and got in.

Just being near him and having that familiar warmth made my eyes water. There was so much I wanted to say to him but couldn't. If we ever spoke again I'd be a fucking nervous wreck and stutter.

Out of nowhere, Damien wrapped his arm around me and pulled me closer to him. He buried his face in the crook of my neck and inhaled my scent. Even though it was masked, he could still smell it when we are this close.

"I want this to be real." He mumbled.

"I know baby." I played with the hair on the back of his neck.

"Come back to me. I miss you so much." His voice cracked a little.

"I miss you to, so so much."

"Then come back to me. I need you next to me again. I'm sorry I tried to kill you, I should have stopped but I didn't. I hate myself for it, I'm so sorry lobito." Damien opened his eyes and looked up at me, I saw them glossy.

Tears fell down both our cheeks as we looked at each other. I should have come back sooner. I shouldn't have left at all and had a conversation about it to him.

"I know you are and I'm sorry to. I should have told you and not kept it a secret." I sniffled.

"Please forgive me." He begged.

"Of course. I love you so much my big wolf." I told him.

"I love you to, so so much my lobito." He smiled sadly then leaned up and kissed me.

"Sleep baby. You'll need it." I said.

"Please don't leave me." He whimpered.

"Never." I smiled and pulled his head to my chest. His arms securely wrapped around my body like I would disappear at any moment.

"I want this to be real." Damien cried and whimpered.

"So do I baby. I love you."

"I love you to."

After a while, I felt him relax and his breathing level. When I knew he was in a deep sleep, I laid there in my mates arms for a while more.

When the sun peaked through the window, I carefully got out of his arms and put my shoes on. Lexi and winter were begging me not leave him but I had to. Soon after I was out the window and running as fast as I could back to the cottage. Only I didn't go there, I went to the cabin instead.

Damien POV

When I woke up this morning, I kind of expected Harriette to be there. That dream felt so real that it doesn't feel like I imagined it at all. Like she was really here, I held her close to me and kissed her lips again.

But like they say, all good things must come to an end. I got up, showered and changed. When I got to the pack kitchen, my mum, dad and former beta was sat there.

"Morning." I smiled at them and sat down to eat.

"Morning. Who were you talking to early this morning?" Jenson, Ryker's dad smirked at me.

"No one. Why?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Don't play dumb mate. I heard you talking to someone. It was quiet but I know it was someone. Have you met your mate yet?" He asked.

So, I may or may not have told my pack I found my mate. Tobias didn't want me to and I guess this is why. I guess Lexi told him same with Harri's vampire but he didn't care. Neither should I but then again, I was raised on horrible stories of Harriette.

"Uh no. Not yet but I'll tell you when I do." I smiled at him sadly.

"So where do you sneak off to days at a time?" My dad smirked as well.

"My friends cabin in the woods. It's out of our territory so I can have some alone time and not worry about pack shit." I shrugged.

"And who's that friend?" My mum joined in.

"His name is Dustin. Ryker's mate." I told them.

"So that's where my son spends most of his time. How come I haven't met her yet?" Jenson questioned me.

"Dustin is a boy and Ryker has more important things than being my beta." I rolled my eyes.

"What's more important than being beta?" My dad raised his voice. "Why is he gone all the time?"

"Because he's got better things to do." I snapped. "Until my beta wants you all to know then keep out of it."

"Don't talk to us like this." My mum growled.

"Then stop asking me shit. All you need to know is that Ryker is being there for his mate. Don't fucking patronise me about it. And as his former alpha, Luna and his dad then you respect his decisions." I yelled and walked away.

When I got to the edge of the woods, I shifted and ran to the only place that would calm me down.

When I got there, I slipped on shorts and went in. Shelby and Derek were sat on the sofa watching a film together.

"Hey sweetheart." Shelby smiled at me.

"Hi." I kissed her cheek and gave Derek a nudge on the shoulder. Then I walked into my mates old room closing the door. Her scent still lingered but slowly fading.

I need her back.
