Forty-two

Harriette POV (17 years later) 

It's been 17 years. Damien and I are stronger than ever, he had given the throne to his cousin as soon as he could. We've moved out of the cottage and him the pack house into a cabin not far from the cottage or Dustin's cabin.

Luke and Liana have grown up so beautifully. Luke is very handsome but is jealous of Damien since he's more attractive than him apparently. As my mate I agree with that but if I wasn't with Damien then I'd go for Luke.

Liana is very much like Shelby personality wise. They know they are adopted but didn't mind. She is shy and quiet at school but not around her family.

When she was little she had a crush on Jeremy only to find out she's his mate. But when the twins were sixteen they chose to become vampires. Shelby turned Liana and Derek Luke.

That was last year and they have learnt quickly. They can go to school without problems and have the same diet as everyone else. Tom and Toby have found their mates and both have five years olds and two year olds. They share a house so don't ask how they became dads at the same time.

My dad found a woman and she's so nice. She knows my dad has me and will never be his first priority and she's ok with that. She actually puts me first and ignores my dad most of the time. We have girly nights once a week and all the boys go for runs. The wolves and vampires together.

Dustin and Ryker are better than ever. They also have a daughter called Lola who is fourteen. She's a hybrid like me and never fails to ask me questions. And Alec, that cute little baby boy I delivered and helped raise with his dads.

Well let's just say he isn't that cute, happy little boy anymore. When he turned six he started distancing himself from everyone. He works out all the time so he's ripped, if he was in a pack I'd call him alpha not beta. He's close to Damien's height and muscle and way more than Ryker.

He also asks me about being a hybrid but that's it. Whenever the boys have boys night he's at home or goes for runs by himself. Unlike his sister, Lola is a very happy girl. She smiles a lot and never fails to make us laugh.

She's best friends with Liana and Luke hangs around with them with Jeremy so they're fine. Shelby and Derek love having us all around. Especially their kids they raised and never fail to be the parents of us all, making sure we eat and the vampires feed when it's time.

Ever since that incident I had they've all made sure I have a blood bag. Damien is the worst on for it really. But in the end we laughed about it and he's eased up with it.

We still haven't got a pup yet which I'm gutted about. But everyone reassures me that it will happen soon and me and Damien will be parents.

Elena, my step mum is the most supportive of me and Damien. She sends us quotes to make us feel better and about having kids. A couple times she's sent us things to help me ovulate more and Damien to be more active.

We followed it and ended up having sex at least double the amount we used to them stopped. It took up most of the day and we didn't see anyone for a week since we were so horny. Thanks Elena.

But here we are now, at my cabin with everyone here. Liana, Luke, Jeremy and Lola were playing around in the lake. Shelby, Derek, my dad and Elena were all talking to each other like usual.

Ryker, Dustin, Tom, Damien and Toby were talking with their mates. Toby's mate, Edith and Tom's mate Callie.

Toms kids, Arden, 5 and Landon, 2 all played with Toby's kids, Opal, 2 and Will, 5. Then Alec was in the cabin doing whatever it was he was doing.

I got up from my seat and went to look for him. Get him out of the house and into the lake, it's fucking hot and he's inside. In the end I found him in the living room watching whatever he was.

"Hey." I sat next to him.

"Shouldn't you be with Damien?" Alec rolled his eyes.

"He's with the boys. What's wrong with you anyway?"

"Nothing." He shrugged.

"It's not nothing is it? Alec what happened that made you distance yourself from everyone?" I sighed.

"It's no-," he started.

"Don't say it's nothing because that's bollocks. Tell me what happened." I cut him off.

"Well dads parents were round talking to him and dad. And I heard them call me a freak and an abomination. It hurt and I thought that's what everyone else thought of me. So I shut them out. And it doesn't help with Jake and Kyle in my head arguing all the time." He ranted.

"Alec your are not an abomination and not a freak. I'm the first of our kind on the run for most of my life until I met Damien and the boys. Then I got you, another hybrid and I was so happy that I wouldn't be on my own. Then I also got Lola which made me even happier. Jenson and Elizabeth are one of very many wolves who won't agree with us being cross breeds but we're here. And no one will take that away from us, because we're stronger than any wolf and vampire." I told him.

"No one in this family thinks you are an abomination. And if they do then they have some fucked up head because there's three of us now. And hopefully soon a fourth with me and Damien's pup. Come on, let's go and enjoy the lake it's so hot in here." I smiled at him.

Alec gave me a small one back and stood up. We both went outside and joined the others. I went up to Damien who pulled me to his side and kissed me.

"What was that for?" I giggled.

"It feels like I haven't seen you in ages." He shrugged.

"Thank you, Harri. Really." Ryker smiled gratefully.

"What for?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"For saying that to Alec. He must have been wanting to hear that for so long. So thank you." He replied.

"Anytime." I said. "He's one of me, I'll help him whenever he needs it."
