July 11th would come after a few days of nothing really going on, soon Summer Break would start but at this current moment the group had all gathered into the meeting room at the request of the chairman.
"And that's all that happened on the night of the seventh." Mitsuru finished explaining the events of the last operation to Ikutsuki. "They're getting more difficult and are imploying more tricky tactics." Ikutsuki said in response, Mitsuru nodded.
"We need to be prepared for what comes next." Mitsuru replied.
"Right. Now, thankfully it's not all bad news..." Ikutsuki began.
"I'm sorry, I can't let you continue until I ask Mitsuru-senpai something." Yukari interrupted, Mitsuru had a look of surprise on her face. "Me?" Mitsuru asked in her shock, Yukari nodded with a serious look in her eyes.
"So much has happened since I joined..." Yukari began "...Up until now I've been fine with just going along with everything in spite of not really knowing what's going on, but now I need to know." she continued, as she did the air in the room seemed to grow more tense and uncomfortable.
"I know you've been hiding something from us, Mitsuru-senpai." Yukari blurted out, the rest of the room turned their attentions from Yukari to Mitsuru. "You act like you don't know anything about the Dark Hour or Tartarus, but it's related to the accident that happened ten years ago." Yukari continued to explain, something in Miyuki's stomach dropped at the mention of ten years ago.
"What accident?" Junpei asked confused, Mitsuru glared at Yukari before letting out a sigh and standing up from her seat.
"Ten years ago....there was an explosion near where our school is currently located, I want to clarify that I was not trying to hide anything from you...." Mitsuru began to explain with hesitation in her voice "...It never seemed relevant..." she added.
"Woah..." Junpei said in disbelief, Mitsuru took a deep breath.
"Fine...I'll tell you everything." The redhead spoke before she walked away from the couch and over to a nearby window, gazing outside into the evening unable to face the rest of her comrades as she explained everything.
"The Shadows are interesting creatures with many abilities, we think of them as our enemies but what if we could use them to our advantage." Mitsuru began to explain.
"To our advantage?" Fuuka asked sheepishly.
"Yes. If we could use them, they could be a source of great power..." Mitsuru replied without removing her gaze from the window.
"Who'd even think about something like that?" Junpei asked absolutely stunned.
"Kouetsu Kirijo...." Mitsuru answered "...Fourteen years ago, he was the former leader of the Kirijo Group. He was obsessed with Shadows, he wanted to harness their power to create something unlike anything else." she continued to explain.
"Harness...their power?" Fuuka stuttered out nervously.
"Yes, he assembled a team of scientists and over several years aquired quite the collection of Shadows..." Mitsuru said.
"What?! That's crazy." Junpei exclaimed in the middle of Mitsuru's sentence.
"Ten years ago, during an experiment they lost control of the Shadows and this world was forever changed as a result..." Mitsuru spoke "...The Dark Hour was created, as was Tartarus..." she added while keeping her grim tone. Everyone in the room was silent, some trembling in disbelief and others still processing all of this.
"According to their account, the mass of Shadows they had collected split into several large Shadows and then were lost..." Mitsuru admitted, Everyone immediately put it all together and realized what that meant.
