It is May. She lives near my barracks in the beautiful Lichterfelde district of the City. We see each other more and more. We go to the Tiergarten. The Zoo. The nightclubs. Drinking in the best life the City had to offer. All the bands in all the clubs are playing Beatles' songs, and especially Abbey Road. I am so happy when off duty and Anja and I are together.
Anja and I meet just outside my barracks' gate, where vendors are selling bockwurst with mustard, and double-decker busses stop. We ride the upper deck of bus # 84 swaying slowly like some strange camel making its way to PotsdamerPlatz, where we transfer to go to the world-renown Kurfurstendamm to shop.
