Erin's POV
I watched her leave as if she had been desperately trying to escape. Did I even know the real her? Or what she used to be? Janet was an interesting person, growing up she had been the only person to have my back when I felt the world letting me down.
But I wouldn't give up. At least not yet, I still had more up my sleeve. One way or another I was going to get the old Janet back. So after lunch had finished it was time for soccer practice. It had become my new hobby once I moved away. I then decided that my love for the sport was greater than I could imagine.
Trying out for the soccer team was a piece of cake. It felt great to be out on the field again, we spent the majority of the time kicking the balls from one person to another. I arched my right leg backward before increasing my speed and kicking it forward.
My chest heaved up and down as I watched the ball fly across the air. Except I may have kicked it too hard, as the ball knocked Millie Anderson across the head. Grimacing I jogged across the field where the cheerleaders had there practice.
I crouched down so that I was eye level to her. "Sorry about that, are you alright"? I asked as she looked at me with ferocious eyes. Until her expression immediately changed into a look of a grimace.
She held one hand across her forehead. "I need to go to the nurse....now"! She streaked as some of her teammates helped her up. Her curly afro held tight back into a bun, Millie Anderson had been my childhood bully. Never in a million years did I picture throwing a soccer ball across her head.
It left me with a rather satisfying feeling.
I was about to head back to practice when I felt a hand wrap around my arm. "I want you to take me" she demanded, daring me to say no. I clenched my jaw trying to reel back the fire inside me. It was like a beast ready to come out any second.
So I swallowed my anger and let the coach know I would be escorting her to the nurse. As we walked across the field her hold on my arm got tighter. It made my skin crawl at the thought of her pathetic fingers touching me.
We walked down the halls slowly much to my demise. She was being extra dramatic as if she has suffered some huge accident. Just then a blank-faced Janet walked across the hall from us. Head down into a book she didn't seem to notice us or anyone.
"Pathetic" Millie muttered under her breath. I felt my jaw clench, the anger resurfacing. We stopped in front of the nurse's office and immediately stepped out of her tight hole. She pouted at me in a rather flirtatious manner.
"I'm going back to practice now. Just let the nurse know what happened" I say getting ready to leave. She grabs hold of my arm causing me to snatch out of her grasp.
"You've changed a lot, Erin. Maybe we could hang out sometime" she purred batting her lashes. The sight was amusing to see, she really was pathetic. It was obvious she only showed interest in me because of my looks.
"No thanks, I don't date bullies," I say with a proud smirk before turning to walk away. Head held high I went back to soccer practice with a newfound spirit of confidence.
