Janet's POV
I spent the morning of my Saturday lounging about and watching Netflix. I had almost gone into work today but I forgot Ms. Freckles had given me the day off. So I was here alone scrolling through Netflix for anything interesting.
It was during these times where I had low key wished I had friends. Yes being alone had its perks but it had its cons as well. But I had to deal with the sad realization that no one wanted to be friends with someone like me.
I had nothing to offer which sucked. I grumpily made my way to the kitchen to grab some ice cream. It was well into the afternoon and I felt myself slowly slipping into boredom. I grabbed my phone noticing a new text from an unknown number.
Jane answer your phone! -U
Confused I deleted it only for another text to come straight after.
Janet this is Amy, I'm on my way to pick you up! -A
I felt my heart dropped immediately. Dropping my phone I dashed upstairs applying on some foundation to cover my birthmark. I threw on a light pink hoodie with some black leggings. I tore my hair out from the messy ponytail I had been rocking.
Neatly combing it back into a neater one. The doorbell rang loudly causing me to jump back in fright. How could she have gotten here so fast? How did she even know where I lived?
I opened the door widely shocked to see Amy rocking a skin-tight purple dress with some black pumps. Her hair was curled to perfection and a shimmer eye shadow adorned her almond eyes.
"When I said get dressed I didn't mean dress for the library"! She pushed her way inside causing me to stumble.
"You didn't exactly tell me to dress for the occasion? Why are you wearing that when it's freezing out"? I scolded folding my arms.
"You are coming with me to a party! Now upstairs you go! You're not going dressed like that". She snapped her fingers racing upstairs, I don't know how she did it in those massive heels.
I followed her into my room as she threw open my closet and rummaged through my things. "I'm not going " I growled blocking her from taking more clothes out.
"Janet almost everyone from school will be there! Come on you can't leave me hanging" she begged. She puffed her cheeks out resembling a chipmunk.
"I never get invited to parties. And I care less if the whole freaking school is going"! I slammed my closet causing her to fold her arms in a fit of anger. I left the room walking back downstairs and plopping back onto the couch.
"It's Saturday night and you want to sit here instead of going to a freaking party! You need to live a little Jane"! She got in front of the tv spreading her arms out so I couldn't see the screen.
You need to live a little...
I've heard those words before but they didn't apply to me. No, I wasn't like everyone else. I was the weird girl who hid in the corner and ate lunch by herself. I was the girl who hid behind a ton of foundation because I knew deep down I didn't belong. I was nothing compared to them.
"You wasted your time coming here. I'm not going and thats that I'm not budging". I cast my eyes down not daring to look up to see her face of disappointment. But this is exactly the kind of person I was, someone who hid behind the sidelines instead of making myself known.
Suddenly she did something unexpected. Amy started to take her heels off and plop down on the couch beside me. " Fine then I'll guess we'll have to bring the party here" she smirked taking her phone out.
My eyes bulged trying to snatch her phone. "We can't throw a party here Amy! Are you crazy dont you dare send that text"! I screamed as she blocked me with one hand for a tiny girl she sure had a lot of strength.
"Relax Janie I know what im doing" she winked before putting her phone away. She got up to grab the remote flipping through the shows on Netflix. "Let's watch something scary while we wait".
My mind raced back and forth and I couldn't sit still. I shouldn't have answered the door. Ms. Freckle was going to kill me once she found out I let a bunch of teenagers ransack her house. My leg bounced up and down and Amy mindlessly chatted her head off.
Thirty minutes later the doorbell rang loudly." Looks like our company is finally here" she chirped running to answer the door. I mentally started praying that this wasn't happening.
"DID SOMEONE SAY SLEEPOVER"?!
