Janet's POV

The beating of my heart overpowered my eardrums It was beating so fast I could barely keep my stoic composure. The feeling from shock to anger rolled inside of me like waves. They kept fighting for dominance, both wanted to control and so they looked to me for guidance.

My vision became blurry as Erin pulled me tightly against him. The feeling of his body heat and abs had my cheeks turning a different hue. This was unlike me and I couldn't tell whether I liked it or not. Shock decided to run through my being and bloodstream making me unable to react in any way.

I felt the heaviness of his head on top of mine. His large body sluggishly laying against mine creating weight. I could barely breathe as the pathetic piece of dough I had been kneading was now torn into pieces. A slight hum rumbled through our bodies and I knew someone had to make the first move.

I placed my small hands on top of his and remove them from my waist. Creating some distance I backed away glaring at the floor beneath me."G-get t-to work" I stuttered before racing out of there. I bolted out the front door of the cafe my chest puffing in and out. The cool air whipped against my heated skin and I welcomed its cold embrace.

I sat on a bench outside the cafe my hair whipping about recklessly. I kept telling myself I was okay but I knew I wasn't. My heart refused to calm down as it was anxious for what was to come.

Why the hell do I feel like this? What's going on with me?

What exactly did all of this mean? Why wasn't I keeping my distance from....him? My body had reacted on its own and I had to take deep breaths to make sure I was getting the oxygen I needed.

My eye kept strolling back to the front doors of the cafe. I was scared that at any moment Erin would follow me out here and want to talk. Talking wouldn't work for me. I didn't want to talk about what had happened.

And while I shut my eyes, I dreaded the thought of going back inside. I knew it would be awkward and there was nothing I could say or do to change it.

I took deep breaths and paced myself before lifting my body from the bench. It took everything in me to move my feet forward. The fear held me back like a leash on a dog. I Janet was afraid for what was to come.

I slowly made my way inside. Steven was still working as the cashier, but Erin was busy taking orders. Our eyes met and his eyes held a deep yearning for something. He bit his lips gently not daring to take his eyes off me.

And like the nervous idiot I was, I scurried off towards the back. The once torn dough was perfectly round again. I gulped deeply going towards the sink to wash my hands. My hands shook with nervousness glancing at the door every few seconds.

Eventually, my heart had calmed down as I put in another batch of freshly baked bread. I glanced at the clock above and saw my shift had ended and with one last sigh I gathered my things.

Steven ushered into the kitchen grabbing his belongings as well. "See you tomorrow Janet" he muttered before scurrying out of the kitchen. I made sure to turn the oven off and wrapped the leftover dough.

I hadn't seen Erin come in and I silently hoped he had left already. Shutting off the kitchen lights I locked up the empty cafe before walking outside. Erin stood there as if he had been waiting for me. Hands in his pockets and a faraway look im his eyes.

I gulped quickly trying to dodge him only to awkwardly bump into him. "I'm not leaving without an answer. One date... that's all I'm asking" he walked closer to me and I instantly stepped back.

"Go home Erin" I snapped angrily trying to escape but it was useless. He grabbed me by my forearms locking me in place. I couldn't escape even if I tried.

"Not until you give me an answer. Come on...please". His brown almond eyes grew larger and he puckered his lips. He resembled a panda and I had to admit he looked adorable. But I wasn't going to give him what he wanted.

"I will see you tomorrow," I said snatching my arms away from his grasp. I successfully walked around him and beelined down the street. My heart pumped so fast it felt like it would burst at any given moment.

I made it home in exactly five minutes. I leaned my hands on my knees trying to catch my breath. My eyes landed on a white envelope that sat in front of the front door.

Confused I picked up the letter from the ground. I was even more shocked to see my name written in cursive lettering.
